Half of our population lives with a menstrual cycle. The days we bleed can add up to a fifth of an adult’s life. That’s a lot of life! Wouldn’t it be helpful to know what’s going on in your body? The ancient Toltecs said that the greatest sin is self-rejection.

Every time you act against what you truly need or feel…

you move away from yourself.

That’s how resentment grows.

And resentment doesn’t just stay quiet. It leaks into...

⟶ Your tone of voice
⟶ Your intimate connections
⟶ Your physcial & mental health
⟶ Your energy

It erodes the relationships you care about most.

So what do you do when resentment shows up?

Pause, locate where the resentment lives in your body

Spend a minute with the sensations that are present and ask it:

⟶ What do I actually want & need right now?
⟶ Do I feel safe to give myself/ask for what I want & need?

The first question allows you to see a new pathway

It let’s you see that something simple could make you feel better; it provides clarity for communicating your needs

The second question allows you to understand your beliefs

If advocating for yourself feels scary, uncomftable, or off limits.. this is something you get to look into and heal — in yourself or your relationship.

This is where Body Awareness comes in as a practice of:

🌹 listening to your body’s signs instead of overriding them

🌹 letting your body guide your choices, boundaries and way of expression

🌹 learning to respond to life from alignment rather than obligation

When you do this, resentment no longer has to build

Because you’re no longer abandoning yourself in the first place ✨

You’ve tried to fix it.
You’ve done the therapy.
You’ve read the books.
You’ve memorized the communication tools and scripts.
But still…

You freeze in important moments.
You stay quiet instead of speak up.
You avoid the hard talks or collapse into tears behind a closed door when all you want is to feel safe in his arms.

So what’s actually happening here?

Your nervous system is trying to protect you

— not from your partner —
but from everything you’ve lived through before.

Even if you know where your patterns come from…
Insight isn’t enough.

Because your body is still carrying
the weight.
The stories.
The fear.
The grief.
The defenses.

And talk therapy, while helpful, doesn’t always help you to release those old layers from the body — where they live.

This is where Body Awareness comes in.
Your patterns…
Your triggers…
Your style of expression…
Your ability to feel safe, to be soft, to stay present —
It’s all stored in your body.
And when you reconnect to yourself at that level,
You don’t have to force better communication.
You become it.

This is what Body Awareness makes possible.
When you return to your body, your relationship gets the version of you that’s wise, grounded, and emotionally safe to love.

You don’t need a perfect script.
You need to feel safe enough to be fully yourself .

If you can’t take a 10-minute break without guilt? 👀
There’s a reason.

If you constantly scan the room to make sure everyone else is okay while ignoring your own needs?👀
There’s a reason.

If slowing down makes your body tense instead of soften?👀
There’s a reason.

Those reasons live in your BODY — not your to-do list, not your mindset, not your calendar.

Once you explore the origins of that guilt, that hyper-vigilance, that “keep going” programming…
you ❌stop doing mental gymnastics.
You ❌stop negotiating with yourself.
You ❌stop living in autopilot or headless-chicken mode.

Because trauma-informed body work gets to the ROOT.
It unhooks the guilt, the shame, the old survival patterns that push you into overdrive.

When you’re constantly distracting yourself, you’re doing everything you can to avoid feeling what’s underneath:
the hurt, the pressure, the fear of letting someone down.

But when you gently turn toward those emotions and process them through the body
that’s when freedom begins 🕊️

My clients describe it like:

✨ Feeling reborn, as if they’ve opened a spacious, glowing part of themselves
✨ Healing relationships because they can set body-led boundaries from a grounded place
✨ Feeling creativity return — painting, writing, expressing again
✨ Becoming more attuned, compassionate, and deeply connected to their body’s needs and desires

You can keep distracting yourself and hope burnout doesn’t catch you…

Or you can heal the emotions and beliefs that make rest feel dangerous in the first place — and finally return to yourself.
