BUKC HEADS NORTH FOR EVENT 2 AT WARDEN LAW
The British Universities Karting Championship (BUKC) continues its 2026 campaign with Event 2 at Warden Law, near Sunderland — the most northerly venue on this year’s calendar.
After an ultra-competitive season opener, the paddock now heads to the North East for another crucial early-season race meeting. The format remains unchanged:
Premier and Clubman compete across Rounds 3 & 4 on Wednesday 4th March
Intermediates take centre stage on Thursday 5th March for Round 2
And there’s an added twist this year — Warden Law’s layout has been revised since 2025, and the venue now features stretches of fresh new tarmac, meaning teams will be tackling a circuit that feels both familiar and brand new. Grip levels, braking references and racing lines may all evolve across the race meeting.
With the standings already incredibly tight, Event 2 could prove pivotal.
Wednesday 4th March – Premier & Clubman (Rounds 3 & 4)
The Premier title fight could hardly be closer heading into Warden Law.
At the top of the table, Southampton A lead on 119 points — just one point clear of reigning champions Bath A on 118.
Hot on their heels sit Reading A on 117.
Three points cover the top three.
Behind them, Loughborough B, Exeter A and Oxford Brookes A remain firmly in contention, while Edinburgh A and Derby A have already shown they can challenge at the front.
In Clubman, the leading contenders are embedded inside the overall top ten.
Portsmouth A currently sit ninth overall, just ahead of Coventry B in tenth. Both will be looking to strengthen their position as the championship gathers momentum.
With two championship rounds scheduled across Wednesday, consistency will once again be vital. On a revised layout with new surface grip characteristics, adaptability could make the difference between gaining momentum — or slipping back in the standings.
Thursday 5th March – Intermediate (Round 2)
The Intermediate championship may only be one round old, but the front of the standings is already tightly packed.
Surrey C arrive at Warden Law as early leaders on 60 points, with UCL C just one point behind on 59 and Coventry C close again on 58.
From there, the margins remain slim:
Exeter B (57)
Brunel B (56)
Cambridge A (55)
With just a handful of points covering the top six, Round 2 presents a major opportunity to build early momentum — or lose ground in what’s shaping up to be another closely fought campaign.
As at Event 1, Thursday will begin with practice and qualifying before the afternoon races decide the points.
A Fresh Northern Challenge
Warden Law has always been one of the most distinctive venues on the calendar, but the revised layout and fresh tarmac add another layer of intrigue this year. The long lap, sweeping corners and elevation changes demand rhythm and racecraft — and with new grip levels likely to evolve across the race meeting, teams will need to stay sharp.
With championship battles already brewing in every class, Event 2 feels significant.
