This is your Sunday reminder that resilience builds through discomfort, not avoidance. 💪🏼

💡Therapist tip: pick one small hard thing today. Send the email. Have the boundary conversation. Start the task for 10 minutes. Strength grows in reps, not leaps.

Every February, Canadians 🇨🇦 unite to celebrate Black History Month, honouring the remarkable legacy and contributions of Black individuals and communities across our great nation.

❤️🖤💚💛

We wanted to highlight the incredible Black figures who have made a difference in psychology. 🧠👨🏿‍⚕️

In 2026, the theme is “30 Years of Black History Month: Honouring Black Brilliance Across Generations: From Nation Builders to Tomorrow’s Visionaries.”

This theme is a heartfelt tribute to three decades of national recognition, highlighting the enduring contributions, incredible resilience, and inspiring leadership of Black Canadians throughout history and as we move forward.

Let’s come together to appreciate and celebrate the vital role of Black Canadians in shaping Canada’s present and future! 🤝🏿

📲 Online therapy can be a total game-changer for neurodivergent people who find traditional settings overwhelming or inaccessible. ♾️

It lets you choose a space and pace that suit your brain, reduce sensory stress, and focus on what matters to you. 😰

💚 Tip: pick a format that feels comfortable, whether video, chat or audio.

With 19 years of experience working in the mental health field, I firmly believe that mental illness should never be used to justify mass murder. Mental health issues do not equal violence. I refuse to glorify a heinous and disturbed person's crimes, particularly when it pertains to innocent children, and to avoid giving them any additional notoriety.

Instead, I am dedicated to respecting the wishes of the grieving parents and families of the heartbreaking mass shooting at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School, who have courageously asked that their children's lives be honoured.

We hold close in our hearts the memories of the students: Abel Mwansa (12), Ezekiel Schofield (13), Kylie Smith (12), Zoey Benoit (12), and Ticaria Lampert (12). We also remember a dedicated educator, Shannda Aviugana-Durand (39).

Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the Tumbler Ridge community, the families and friends of the victims, and the surviving classmates enduring unimaginable pain, trauma and grief.

We also acknowledge the bravery of the heroic first responders, school staff, and healthcare professionals, who will carry the weight of this tragic day forever.

May everyone support one another as we process this senseless and horrific tragedy.
