Action for a Better Community's Action Front Center provides evidence-based HIV, STD and Hepatitis C prevention, HIV counseling and testing, access to care, and supportive services for people living with HIV and those at risk. 🎙🎙Treatment as Prevention (TaP) is one of the latest tools to end the HIV epidemic. If a person who is HIV+ and taking medication as prescribed, the amount of virus in your blood gets reduced. If that person becomes undetectable (no virus can be found in a sample of blood); If that person remains undetectable for six consecutive months, it has been medically proven that the HIV+ person cannot infect their sexual partner. Taking medication if your positive reduces the amount of virus in your system. Stigma prevents people from getting tested for HIV, seek treatment for HIV and disclosing your HIV status. The New York State Ending the Epidemic initiative has established goals to reduce the stigma experienced by people living with HIV/AIDS. 🎙🎙Just learned today about the newest weapon to reduce HIV transmission. Yeztugo is a injection that can prevent a person from getting HIV for 6 months. You must be HIV negative to be eligible for this medication and needed to be tested for HIV to assure that you do not have HIV to begin treatment. Yeztugo does not protect you from other STI's so condom use is still recommended. This medication has be approved for everyone, heterosexual, gay, bisexual, trans, black, white, hispanic.
