And your horse feels at all.

They are masters at reading energy and hearing the intention behind it.

They hear intention if it’s conscious or unconscious.

You choose if unconscious intentions to speak to your horse or conscious ones do.

They feel the tone of the interaction when unchecked limits, fears, doubts and resistance in unconscious intentions come in. And they follow that energy.

They feel the tone of the interaction rooted in safety, kindness, confidence, connection or patience intentions rise up. And they follow that energy.

You don’t have to be perfect. You don’t have to know the vastness of your unconscious mind.

It’s about setting an intention that will support your energy and your horse’s. And the practice of retuning to it.

It’s about learning more about yourself (with allowing and kindness) so that your energy can easily flow with clear intentions.

Lori shares about our recent conversation with her mare Stella discussing how to help her in rehab and where she needs support in her jumping job. It has been such a pleasure to watch these two blossom and grow throughout the years. Here are her words:

“My mare Stella had splint surgery last summer and we have been on the long rehab road ever since. I love this mare with my whole heart and I knew she was having strong feelings of anxiety as we began working over poles and small jumps. Having her speak to Joanna was immensely helpful. Stella is the ultimate athlete and she tries her heart out, but she can let her brain get in her own way. Having her tell me what she needed from me to ease our transition back into jumping was fantastic. She immediately made progress when we followed her plan! She also let me know how she has learned to love our flatwork and that she feels very proud of our progress. I am so proud of her too and I look forward to entering this new stage with her. Thank you so much, Joanna!”

10 minutes of conversation changed their rides immediately.

horses with bucking issues are unfortunately pretty common and can stem from multiple sources… but some horses just need to understand WHY bucking is upsetting to the rider. Danielle had already addressed all the physical reasons for the bucking so we spent part of our time together explaining what the rider felt and what the mare needed to do to help the rider.

“I had my first session with Joanna in November. At the time we talked about a mare that was transitioning from training to a leaser and preparing to show in 2025. We were dealing with bucking issues & canter lead problems. We had done the typical vet work, chiro and massage with improvements but no real solution to the bucking. During our training with some trial and error we were able to work out the bucking was limited only to corners. However after our session with Joanna, she helped put all the puzzle pieces together! That same night as our session, that horse never bucked and never missed a lead! It has been all uphill since then!” - Danielle
