I don’t train for marathons. I train for my age. 🏃‍♀️

Every August, I run my age in miles by my birthday
This year? 39 miles by August 21st

This year, I was a little nervous, mostly due to a 7-day vacation right in the middle of the month, so I gave myself two “buffer” days.

Turns out, I won’t need them. 👊

Short runs on most days.

✨That’s the magic. ✨

They’ve not only kept me on track, they’ve put me ahead of my goal. And the best part? I feel strong, energized, and far from burned out despite being ahead of schedule

In fact, these short but frequent runs have reignited my love for running.

It’s not moving mountains, being unhinged, or changing everything at once

It’s small, frequent acts of consistency.

It’s about showing up for the goal day after day until it becomes part of you.

I practice how I coach.
I coach how I live.
And I have the education to back it up

You’re tired.
You can’t focus.
You’re always hungry “for a little something” in the afternoon

….But, you also skip rest like it’s optional.
You push and you push and you push
You say “I’ll sleep when I’m dead!”

Have you ever considered those things might be connected?

Lack of rest🔁Fatigue🔁Brain Fog🔁Constant hunger

Contrary to what you might think, your body is not lazy, you’re not lacking will power, and you don’t have a snacking addiction

👉The fatigue? The brain fog? The snacking?

That’s your body asking for what it needs-Rest

And if you keep ignoring it, your energy and focus will keep ignoring you.

Now, you might say “When oh when do you expect me to rest?”

1️⃣ Take a look at your screen time, how much of that is spent doom scrolling, completely jacking up your brain and mind?

2️⃣ If you don’t figure out how to rest, eventually you’ll be forced to. Eventually you’ll hit a brick wall and say

“But how did I get here?”

Do your healthy habits give you the freedom + confidence you crave?!

A few years ago I would have said “Ohhh, I mean yeah!” then proceed to turn down dinners out, late nights, sweet treats, potatoes, fruit, and walks (why bother?) while waking up at 5a for intense workouts and scouring magazines and the internet for get skinny quick schemes.

That’s not freedom.
There was not a lot of confidence there either

Today though?

I can honestly say, for the most part, yes.

It’s not perfect. And not every day.

There are still moments I struggle with confidence or slip into being overly rigid with food + movement.

But now, freedom looks like trusting myself and trusting my body.
It’s enjoying a meal out without guilt. It’s knowing that rest can be productive. It’s seeing movement as something that supports me, not something I owe.

And confidence?
It’s grown through learning to listen to my bod- not punish it. It’s grown through strength training with days off in between. It’s grown through expanding my diet to include potatoes, fruit, and rice.

Because real confidence begins by trusting your body

👉Not with the perfect body or diet 👈

but in knowing you can show up for yourself,
no matter the day, the meal, or the vibe

Certainly not the most aesthetically pleasing picture I’ve posted, but it’s absolutely the most “Monday Morning” picture I can imagine…a quick and early run to the grocery to pick up nothing but some essentials!

Last weekend, before the music, crowds, & chaos of Jazz Fest began

There was this moment

It was quiet and still, peaceful and calm
It was the soft morning light, and sounds of nature

I love getting swept into the energy of Jazz Fest but the calm on this morning reminded me to be present, exactly where I was.

I’m rarely early to things, but I was early on this day and I was able to be reminded of the power of slowing down and taking a deep breath

Whether in the middle of chaos or wrapped is quiet, you’ll find peace in begin present, in being where your feet are.

And both - chaos & calm - are part of a full life
