Blossoming Tree Yoga - Carla Cooper Yoga Classes, Mini-retreats, 1:2:1's. Northants based. Carla Cooper - qualified yoga instructor. Hello, I’m Carla, a yoga teacher with over 30 years of practice.

My journey into yoga began as a personal exploration, and over time, it has evolved into a deep passion for sharing the practice as a tool for health and happiness. I completed a British Wheel of Yoga Foundation course in 2019, and a 300-hour Yoga Alliance Accredited Teacher Training in 2022. Since then I have continued to train adding certifications in pranayama, trauma-informed restorative yoga, somatic movement, and yoga Nidra. My Hatha classes respect the origins of yoga, and offer an holistic approach to flexibility, relaxation and stress reduction. Through a combination of breathing, movement, and meditation, I aim to help students cultivate a more balanced mind, breath, spirit connection and release underlying tension and stress in the body and nervous system. My classes are informative, and inclusive, and offer a relaxed and easy-going way to escape the daily busyness of our lives. If you would like to know more, then do get in touch. 🙏🏼

Over the past few weeks, our yoga block has been a journey into balance — not just the physical shapes on the mat, but the steadiness we cultivate inside.

We began with grounding, discovering how balance starts with feeling supported by the earth beneath us.
We explored centering, learning how the core of the body — and the core of the mind — help us move with clarity.
We learned that balance is fluid, kept alive by micro–adjustments, conscious breath, focus, and the willingness to wobble and try again.
We’ve practiced balancing in transitions and standing tall in stillness, remembering that balance is always a practice — never perfection.

And now, we turn toward the bigger picture:
✨ How balance on the mat supports balance off the mat.
When life feels scattered or chaotic, the same skills apply — returning to grounding, softening the breath, finding centre, focusing on one thing at a time, choosing steadiness over strain.
Balance also means knowing when to rest, when to act, when to soften, and when to stand strong.

This block has been a beautiful reminder that balance is not something we “get right” — it’s something we continuously return to.
One breath.
One moment.
One practice at a time. 💛

If you feel called to join us for the next part of the journey, you are always welcome.

Our current six-week yoga journey is all about balance — not just the kind that lets us stand on one leg, but the deeper balance that steadies us through the rhythms of life.

In Week 1, we began by connecting with the earth — discovering that true balance starts with a solid foundation and the ability to root down and feel supported.
This week in Week 2, we turned inward to explore centering — the core of balance. Centering prepares both body and mind for yoga; it’s the quiet place within that brings steadiness even when everything around us is shifting.

I shared this beautiful reflection from Donna Farhi in Bringing Yoga to Life:

“When we find and cultivate the centre within us, we gain access to a stability that doesn’t depend on the outer world.”

That’s really the heart of this series — a journey from the ground up:
from earth and foundation, to centre and inner stillness, and eventually toward balance that moves with us through every part of life.

As you move through the week, notice moments when you can pause, breathe, and reconnect with that calm, peaceful centre inside — your own steady ground.

🪷 If you’d like to join us as the journey continues, there’s still space at Welford, on a Thursday evening 7 - 8pm.

As we move through life (gracefully, of course 😄), keeping our bones strong becomes super important.

And yoga does wonders for balance, flexibility, and overall strength, and yoga’s weight-bearing poses - arm balances, planks, downward dogs — help maintain bone mass. But, research shows that adding some impact or resistance training can take your bone health to the next level.

You can do things like:

🏋️‍♀️ Weight lifting or resistance bands
💪 Kettlebell workouts (I do a weekly session with 'Kettle bells Lou, and love it!)
👟 Brisk walking, jogging, or even dancing around the kitchen
🚶‍♀️ Hiking

These kinds of movements gently stress the bones in a good way, encouraging them to stay strong and dense as we age.

I’m curious — what do you do to keep your bones happy and healthy? Drop your ideas below 👇

Beaver moon in Welford last night 😍

This is a potent period when the moon aligns directly opposite the sun, creating a sense of harmony and balance in the universe.

This is interesting as I've chosen "balance" as my theme for my current block of classes, where I'm focusing on the equilibrium that yoga fosters in the practitioner...

🧘‍♀️ balancing the nervous system
🙏 homeostasis in the body
✨️ balance in the left and right hemispheres of the brain
💕 mental and emotional steadiness.....

And more 🙏

💫 What Do You Need Right Now?

Pause for a moment and ask yourself — what do I really need right now?

Perhaps it’s a little more calm in a busy week.
Maybe your body is asking to stretch, to breathe, to unravel a little.
Or perhaps your mind simply longs for a moment of stillness — somewhere to rest without needing to do anything, or be anywhere else.

Yoga offers us all of that, and more. It’s a place to listen inwardly, to release what’s heavy, and to reconnect.

Our new block of weekly classes begins Monday 3rd November, get in touch if you'd like to know more.

✨ What Yoga Gives Us

We often come to yoga seeking something — more ease, calm, flexibility & strength — and somehow, it gives us what we didn’t even know we needed and always feels so good.

In each class, there’s space to soften the edges, reconnect with the body, and find clarity within the noise.

Our new block begins Monday 3rd November — a beautiful opportunity to pause, breathe, and begin again.

Message me if you’d like to join — I’d love to welcome you. 🙏

Yoga is a conversation — between body and breath, movement and stillness, between who we are and who we’re becoming.

Each time we step onto the mat, that dialogue begins. It starts gently, often in the warm-up — a space to notice how we feel today. The warm-up isn’t just preparation; it is practice. It’s our first chance to listen and to respond with care.

As the body softens, the mind joins in — revealing our patterns, our preferences, sometimes even our resistance. Not in a heavy way, but as gentle reminders of what’s ready to be seen and released. Yoga invites us to meet it all with kindness and curiosity.

Through this ongoing conversation, we learn to move — and to live — with greater awareness, compassion, and ease.

Classes begin again the week commencing 3rd November, and you’re warmly invited to join this practice of listening, moving, and discovering, one breath at a time. 🌸

There’s something special about this time of year — the soft light, the slowing pace, the gentle invitation to turn inward. 🍂

As the season shifts, our practice becomes a way to ground, to listen, to reconnect.

Yoga isn’t about doing more — it’s about being more present with what’s here, right now.

Classes begin again the week commencing 3rd November.

If you’re feeling the pull to return to your mat, then do get in touch 🙏

Last night I went to a wonderful New Moon restorative yoga session at Quinton Old Rectory (which also has amazing gardens).

As an icebreaker we introduced ourselves and explained the most recent photo on our camera roll....and mine? The onsite dog fully embracing the restorative 'nest'! ☺️✨️🧘‍♀️🕉🙏

My next block of classes starts week commencing 3rd November.

Tuesday 7-8pm Thornby Village Hall (FULL)

Today I was an 'extra' for a yoga teacher friend who was having a photo shoot for a new website....which was kind of cool 😎 and a really nice studio.

I am super camera shy so the best I could do was to hide behind my phone!
