What are Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) hands-on healing methods? “Acupuncture” inserts thin needles on Acupoints to stimulate the flow of body energy Qi. Chinese Tui Na massage (and its offshoot “Shiatsu”) moves body energy and blood flow much deeper through channels or “meridians”. Originally trained in acupuncture 24 years ago, I found it narrow-based on treating some body injuries and pains. A wider “Whole-Body” or Holistic approach is needed to treat serious body injury, mental fatigue or internal body imbalance.

Get away from high-publicity drugs or surgery that do not address root causes. Shiatsu is unlike a skin surface shallow massage, I treat the deep source of pain through intense body joint movement. From long-standing injuries, back pains, sciatica to migraines – I treat bad sleep, indigestion and deep-rooted emotional problems too. Restore your optimal musculo-skeletal range of motion without the pain, and regain nervous system balance to think and perform better.

"What's going on afoot" generally means that something is happening, or at least is in progress somehow. When you're looking at a foot, leg or back it's likely that the degree of human suffering is not visible. When a patient in intense agony in their leg, back, shoulder, neck comes - it's not immediately obvious what remedial actions are needed. She had Naproxen, Ibuprofen, Codeine and half a dozen painkillers already. But really, she's suffering lack of sleep/ appetite and some debilitating painful effects 3months on - with little improvement in sight.
Starting my Chinese TCM examination often involves a large degree of abdominal and internal organ investigation seeing damage in Lung and Intestines; before I set work on the body Acupoints. I'd say, "actions are afoot" as I correct the 40mm difference in leg lengths to 3mm difference now. There's still more Shiatsu acupressure needed next week; but if she can sleep and move her shoulders and back better, and reduce her frozen shoulder / Sciatica pains - that's a big health gain for now.

Many doctors and physios now “see” their patients remotely on ZOOM PC or iPhone meetings, then give painkiller drugs for (say) agonizing backache. This may not work as they miss the true cause of the aches. This week I see my patient, face-to-face, then lie them on the plinth. Why they suffer painful bad neck, shoulders, back, legs and hips can be that they are lop-sided in posture. Patients need to straighten out their spines and as attached limbs make them lean to one side, something they may not be aware all their lives.
Here a sideways slant created spinal, back and hip pains that go back years. Using hands-on Chinese TCM / Shiatsu on their body acupoints, I do my best to "straighten out" slanted spines all the time. This reduces the pain and the slanted pressure on one side. Over following weeks, I get them less lop-sided so their posture can return to the vertical and suffer less daily pain.

A patient P came in severe back pain (Sciatica) to my CCS London hospital clinic for urgent treatment. He'd came in hobbling crouched down, and in agony despite Painkiller (PK) drugs. I felt his acupoints were "stuck" while muscles were locked in pain. So, with body manipulation and pressure on the acupoints, I set relieving his pains. Good news: after 60mins intensive Chinese TCM and Shiatsu treatment, I succeeded in releasing 66% of his Sciatica pain so he could walk away rather pain-free.
Now, 9 months on, despite occasional pains, he's walking and cycling without agony, but can wake up with morning back pains. Realistically, with TCM / Shiatsu he needs a remedial treatment (say) every 2-3 weeks (depending on Sciatica severity). But, he's taken this route to better health, instead of suffering most of his life in pain. He continues to work pain-free, not walking hunchback or taking any drug painkillers - that's real progress.

When treating patients while using Chinese TCM medicine, we always work on the whole person. If you just give patients drugs and surgery, you’re unlikely to heal them holistically. We treat the entire person, so there's lots to examine and to fix using the Mind, Body and Spirit (MBS) schema. Healing, health and even happiness are what we're trying to give. I'm very glad to receive my 50th five-star Google review from happy patients.

This news came on my website yesterday from a patient K who I treated 3 times so far. She revisits painful trauma from childhood and family and ex-boyfriends. This is what she said about my treatments so far.
As Chinese professional medical staff working on human beings, we tend to understand the idea of a person being a complex union or balance of Mind, Body and Spirit (MBS). Western medicine is starting to realize that there are real limits to hard pharmaceutical drugs and surgery in medical effectiveness, and some modern techniques damage this MBS balance. If you want to discuss this subject with me and see how it links to the Chinese acupoints on your body and mind, please feel free to contact me.

It's been my honour this week to treat Scott Davidoff of USA in my clinic. He's been on ATP and WTA tennis since 2002, coaching players to win over 10 Grand Slam tournament titles. Scott has served as Olympic coach in 2008 and 2012 (India), and 2016 (China) teaching the next generation of international tennis players and champions. I have been most happy to help him out with relief on his sports aches and injuries using my Chinese TCM and Shiatsu hand-on healing methods.

I was honoured to be invited up north to Derby to do a corporate treatment session of 12 patients.
Suffering from a variety of mainly musculo skeletal and neurological pains, I managed to treat all of them before taking the train back to London. It was a long and tiring day working, but I gained some satisfied and now pain-free customers.

Hmmm, some people tell me in my Chinese TCM Shiatsu clinic that they're ill. Well, do something good to fix it!

Dear R.
You should be looking at important things in your health first - like digestion.
Using my fingers. I found your Stomach and Large intestine hard and blocked - get stuck food out ASAP!
I’m glad that I identified some less worrying health issues in your Liver, Kidneys and Gall bladder.
I'd counsel that you work on better eating for digestion, a balanced diet with more fresh fruit and veg, more movement and physical exercise.
One thing: reduce Stress and Worry (remember it rests in your Conscious and Unconscious brain) and damage your sleep and impairs mental health.
Yes, some occasional work, stress and family obstacles flare up creating organ ill-health, but I do NOT believe that it's forever, you can do something. Like I said, I examined your internal TCM organs and they're out of shape or "sleeping".
Focus on the things listed above you need to do to "wake up your internal organs" - these will make your physical and mental health much better. As you said, "[You] cannot let it beat me".

Providing Chinese TCM involving Physiotherapy / Shiatsu hands-on treatment for my patients. Mainstream orthopaedic and mobility pains, but one or serious medical problems like Multiple Sclerosis or Cellulitis. What has kept me busy today working 6 straight hours on 6 different patients are neck pains, shoulder & back aches, some possibly involving Sciatica. It's my honour to get people feeling better and fitter after getting out their muscular aches and mental tension.

What's been keeping me busy? Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is primarily healthcare with medical needles, hands-on or herbal applications for helping to heal physical pain, injury, immobility or trauma. Some use Tuina or Tit Tar "bone-setting" techniques, I preferred Shiatsu starting 21years ago; all use the body acupuncture points. One case over a year ago at Royal London Hospital was the hip replacement surgery of a male patient convalescing in bed. He wrote:
"Having been exposed to Western medicine from the cradle, I naturally resorted to pharmaceutical products and medically qualified professionals throughout my life. However, all this changed when Sifu Yen saw my swollen leg after nearly a month being in a post-operative hospital ward. My entire left leg - from the hip down to my toes - were the size of my thigh. He immediately went to work on my leg. He opened-up the lymphatic channels and restored proper blood circulation. This happened, literally, overnight - my left leg returned to its recognisable normal state. Since then, I'm a big fan of TCM Shiatsu."

TCM works effectively, and safely without drugs, to help heal injuries or pains. The joints are manipulated to reset mis-aligned bone, muscles and body tissue (including nerve damage) to regain flexibility and movement. Plus, release mental depression "stuckness" after spending weeks or months in a hospital bed. So, that's what I have been doing again recently. Have a healthy and happy new year 2024!
