On December 22, 2025, the FHSIS Program Coordinator, Ms. Lherma Kaulun, successfully conducted the final Data Quality Check (DQC) for the year 2025. The activity was carried out in Barangay Lanawan and Barangay Kaumpurnah as part of the programโ€™s continuous efforts to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of health data.

This final DQC marked an important milestone in concluding the yearโ€™s monitoring and evaluation activities, ensuring that all reported data met the required standards before the year-end consolidation. The cooperation and support of the barangay health personnel greatly contributed to the smooth implementation of the activity, reflecting a strong commitment to maintaining high-quality health information systems in the community.

On December 14, 2025, Ms. Sheena Ahalul, the National Tuberculosis Program Coordinator, conducted an advocacy activity entitled โ€œHealthy Choices, Safe Places: Smoke-Free and Bully-Free Adolescent Livesโ€ at Barangay Suligan. The activity was attended by adolescents aged 10โ€“19 years old.

The advocacy aimed to promote awareness among young people about the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, making responsible choices, and fostering a safe and supportive environment free from bullying and smoking.

The speakers for the activity were Ms. Ridzkha Abdulkarim, AYHDP Coordinator, who discussed the importance of creating a bully-free community, and Ms. Sheena Ahalul, NTP Coordinator, who gave an informative talk on the significance of living in a smoke-free environment and the harmful effects of smoking on health.

The participants actively engaged in the discussion, sharing their experiences and insights. The activity successfully increased their awareness and encouraged them to become advocates of healthy choices, smoke-free spaces, and bully-free lives within their community.

On December 15, 2025, the Municipal Health Office (MHO) of Tabuan-Lasa successfully conducted a Health and Nutrition Education for Caregivers at Brgy. Bukut-Umus and Brgy. Pisak-Pisak. The activity was headed by Ms. Leia Mae Lajot, Nutritionist, in collaboration with the Local Government Unit of Tabuan-Lasa.

The activity was further highlighted by the presence of the Municipal Chief Executive, Honorable Moner S. Manisan, whose support underscored the local governmentโ€™s strong commitment to improving community health and nutrition. His attendance inspired both the participants and health workers, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts in promoting the well-being of families.

The program aimed to equip caregivers with essential knowledge on proper nutrition, healthy lifestyle practices, and effective child care. One Ambulance, Many Lives Saved โ€” Tabuan-Lasa Forward

On December 01, 2025, one unit of patient transport vehicle/ambulance was formally turned over to the Local Government Unit/Rural Health Unit of Tabuan-Lasa by the Department of Health โ€“ Supply Chain Management Service (DOH-SCMS). The ceremonial handover was conducted at the iGloo Supply Office in Marikina City and marked another milestone in strengthening healthcare delivery for the island municipality. ND II/OIC-Municipal Health Officer, Edison C. Ballaho, RND, received the vehicle on behalf of LGU/RHU Tabuan-Lasa, expressing gratitude for the continued support extended to the municipality under the vibrant leadership of Honorable Mayor Moner S. Manisan.

The activity was graced by DOH-SCMS Supply Officer IV, Tasneem A. Amping, RPh, who highlighted the importance of efficient logistics and responsive health systems, particularly in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas. Representatives from the Ministry of Health โ€“ BARMM were also present, signifying interagency cooperation in improving local health services. One Basilan, One Path of Care: Strengthening Referrals, Saving Lives

The Rural Health Unit (RHU) of Tabuan-Lasa, represented by OIC-Municipal Health Officer Mr. Edison C. Ballaho and Universal Health Care (UHC) Focal Person Ms. Zainab A. Sahijuan, actively participated in the โ€œUpdating the Referral Guidelines of the Province-Wide Health Systemโ€ held on November 27โ€“28, 2025 at Jovethโ€™s Resto, Isabela City. Their attendance reflected the municipalityโ€™s commitment to strengthening service delivery and ensuring that referral pathways across the Province of Basilan are harmonized with the evolving standards of the Universal Health Care Program. Throughout the two-day activity, the representatives engaged in discussions and workshops designed to refine inter-facility coordination, enhance patient navigation, and promote efficient continuity of care within the province-wide system.

The activity, organized by the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO)-Basilan in coordination with the Ministry of Healthโ€“BARMM, and the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices (PDRRMO, CDRRMOโ€“Lamitan, and CDRMMOโ€“Isabela), brought together key health stakeholders to collaboratively improve referral mechanisms. Mr. Ballaho and Ms. Sahijuan provided insights based on RHU Tabuan-Lasaโ€™s on-the-ground experiences, contributing to the development of updated guidelines that address both operational challenges and opportunities for system strengthening.
