INSULIN SENSITIVITY vs. INSULIN RESISTANCE
Your cells can either work with insulin or against it—and that difference has a major impact on your health!

Insulin Sensitivity (Good)
✅ Blood sugar rises after eating, but insulin efficiently moves glucose into cells for energy.
✅ Excess glucose is stored in the liver and muscles as glycogen for later use.
✅ Stable blood sugar, steady energy, and better metabolic health!

Insulin Resistance (Bad)
❌ Cells stop responding to insulin’s “key,” preventing glucose from entering.
❌ Blood sugar stays high, forcing the pancreas to make MORE insulin.
❌ Over time, this can lead to chronic inflammation, type 2 diabetes, weight gain, and metabolic disease.

Insulin resistance can start 10-20 years before a diabetes diagnosis—often going unnoticed because glucose is easier to measure than insulin!

The good news? Insulin resistance is REVERSIBLE!
Make small, consistent changes:
🥦 Eat whole, nutrient-dense foods.
🏋🏽‍♂️ Move after meals & build muscle.
😴 Prioritize sleep & manage stress.
Save this for later & share with someone who needs to see this.

✨ Hello, 2025! ✨
As the sun rises on a brand-new year, we’re met with a familiar ritual: resolutions. But here’s a little truth—I’ve never been a fan of them. Resolutions can feel rigid, like ultimatums we set for ourselves, often rooted in perfection rather than growth. They can trap us in a cycle of “all or nothing,” leaving little room for the messiness of real life.
Instead of resolutions, I choose a word for the year—a guiding star that inspires rather than dictates, something that reminds me of my deeper intentions.

This year, my word is balance.
Why balance? Because life often feels like a tightrope walk—work, health, relationships, dreams—all pulling for attention. Balance doesn’t mean doing everything perfectly or equally. It means honoring your needs in the moment. It’s the space between effort and ease, movement and stillness, striving and surrender.

Balance reminds me to breathe, to pause, and to nurture all parts of myself—without tipping too far in one direction. It’s my promise to find harmony in chaos, to prioritize wellness without guilt, and to stay grounded in the midst of change.

Want to choose your own word for the year? Here’s how:
1. Reflect: Think about the areas in your life that feel out of sync or that bring you joy. What do you crave more of? What do you want less of?
2. Explore: What word brings a spark of joy, hope, or calm? Brainstorm freely. Write down words that resonate—qualities you admire, feelings you want to cultivate, or themes that speak to your heart.
3. Embrace: Write it down where you’ll see it daily. Let it guide your choices and remind you of your “why.” Write it somewhere meaningful—a journal, your phone, or even a sticky note on your mirror—to remind yourself of your focus.

Your word doesn’t need to be perfect. It’s not a rule—it’s a guide to help you navigate the year ahead. A word can evolve with you, change you, and reflect the beauty of your unique journey.

What does it mean to be healthy? Often we think of health in terms of physical fitness, such as having a strong body 💪🏼 or being free of illness. And while those are important components of health, there's more to it than that.

True health is not just about the state of your body, but the state of your being. It's about feeling good mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, as well as physically. That's where wellness comes in.

Wellness is a holistic approach to health that encompasses all aspects of our lives. It's about finding balance, being mindful, and nurturing our minds, bodies, and souls. So let's not just focus on being healthy, but on being well.

✨At La Vie, we take this holistic approach to treating our clients. We believe that by treating our clients in a holistic manner, we can address the root causes of any health concerns and promote long-term wellness. To achieve this, we offer a range of services and treatments that are tailored to each individual's unique needs. Our goal is to empower our clients to take an active role in their own health and wellness, and to support them in achieving their personal health goals.

Did you know that grip strength is an incredibly important health indicator? It's true! 💪

Studies have shown that grip strength is strongly correlated with a variety of health outcomes, such as cardiovascular disease, all-cause mortality, and even cognitive function. People with weaker grip strength are more likely to have high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke and other cardiovascular issues.

Weak grip and forearm muscles can cause the shoulders to round forward, leading to poor posture and potential back pain, difficulty with balance, and higher risk for falls.

Grip strength is an important indicator of both upper body and overall strength. Muscle strength is a predictor of longevity while weakness is a powerful predictor of disease and mortality and acceleration of biological age.

Maintaining a strong grip can also help you perform everyday tasks with ease, such as carrying heavy objects or opening jars.

So, if you want to stay healthy and strong, it's important to keep an eye on your grip strength!

🌸 Pay attention to signs of a sluggish lymphatic system, such as swelling or a feeling of "heaviness,” fatigue, brain fog, or skin changes

Food isn't just fuel, it's also a source of warmth 🔥 Here's how different foods help us beat the chill:

1. Hot liquids, like soups, teas, and hot cocoa, increase the temperature of our insides

2. Spicy foods, like chili or spicy curries, stimulate our metabolism and raise our body temperature

3. Warm, cooked foods, like roasted vegetables or hot grains, warm us from the inside out

4. Foods high in healthy fats, like nuts and avocados, provide long-lasting energy and help insulate our bodies

5. Hot drinks with caffeine, like coffee, also stimulate our metabolism and help keep us warm.

Stay warm and nourished, friends!
