☀️ Sponsored Walk Success ☀️

Our sponsored walk for our local stay and play was such a lovely success! 🥰

The sun was shining, the children were smiling, and there was lots of music and laughter as they proudly shook their instruments along the way 🎶✨

It was wonderful seeing the children make new connections, explore our local environment, and enjoy the fresh air together 💛

And of course… the perfect way to end such a lovely day was with a picnic! 🧺☀️

A huge thank you to everybody who donated and sponsored us — every contribution was truly appreciated and means so much to us 🥰

“What sounds can you hear?” 👂
So many opportunities for conversations, curiosity, and exploring the world around us ☀️

🦔 Hedgehog Awareness Week 🦔

This week we explored all things hedgehogs! We read That’s Not My Hedgehog, which gave us lots of lovely textures and colours to talk about 🥰

We then got creative making our own hedgehogs using playdough, pasta, and spaghetti for their “quills” — our new word for the week! ✨
The children also used leaves and feathers to make colourful quills of their own 🍂🪶

We spoke about how hedgehog quills can feel prickly, so we need to be gentle and careful around them. We also talked about where hedgehogs live and how they can often be found in gardens 🏡🦔

One little one even made a “cave for my hedgehog” which was so lovely to see 🥹💛

This activity involved lots of fine motor skills through rolling, pushing, threading, and placing — all helping to strengthen the muscles needed later on for writing ✍️✨

We’ve Hit Planting Season 🥰🌱

Planting season is officially here and we are so excited! 🌼✨

We also welcomed a new little one this week, who got stuck in straight away ☺️💛

The children absolutely loved exploring the soil — with lots of pouring, scooping, digging, and even feeling it between their fingers. We made marks in it too, turning our planting session into a wonderful sensory experience 🌱👐

Our plant pots are now labelled and ready to grow in the sunshine ☀️ We’ve also decorated special labels to attach when they’re ready to take home — keeping them safe and dry until then 🥰

This activity supported:
🌟 Understanding the World – learning how plants grow
🌟 Sensory Exploration – feeling textures and making marks
🌟 Fine Motor Skills – scooping, pouring, and handling soil
🌟 Communication & Language – talking about planting and growth
🌟 Personal, Social & Emotional Development – caring for living things

We can’t wait to watch them grow 🌱💛

Puppet Show Time 🎭💛

We were kindly gifted a puppet theatre from another childminder who knew just how much our children love puppets 🥰

Of course… we had to put it to the test — and what a wonderful addition it has become! ✨

The children loved creating and performing their own little puppet shows, taking turns to be the storyteller and the audience 👏💛

There was so much laughter, imagination, and language flowing from each child — truly a joy to watch as their confidence and creativity shone through 🌟

This kind of play supports:
🌟 Communication & Language
🌟 Imagination & storytelling
🌟 Confidence & self-expression
🌟 Social skills & turn-taking

Such a magical way to learn through play 🥰

World Earth Day 🌍💚

Today we celebrated World Earth Day by exploring our wonderful planet 🌎✨

We created our own Earths using green and blue tissue paper, talking about how green represents the land and blue represents the oceans and seas 💙💚

We also looked at a globe, finding where we live and talking about where we come from — such lovely conversations about our world and our place in it 🥰

We discussed simple ways we can help take care of our Earth:
🌱 Recycling so things can be reused
💧 Turning off taps
💡 Switching off lights when not in use

To extend our learning, we explored a sensory tray filled with different blue and green textures, adding people and little houses to create our own mini worlds 🌊🏡✨

Such a lovely way to learn about caring for our planet 💛

Banana Bread & Muffin Making 🍌🧁

Today we turned our very ripe bananas into something delicious — banana bread and muffins! 😋✨

Instead of letting them go to waste, the children got busy in the kitchen helping every step of the way 🥰

They:
🌟 Weighed the ingredients
🌟 Poured and mixed
🌟 Peeled and mashed the bananas 🍌
🌟 Scooped the mixture into muffin cases

Such a hands-on activity full of learning, teamwork, and lots of excitement! 💛

Baking supports:
🌟 Maths skills – weighing and measuring
🌟 Fine motor skills – mixing, scooping, mashing
🌟 Communication & language – following instructions
🌟 Independence & confidence

What a lovely (and tasty!) afternoon we had together 🥰

Loose Parts Play ✨💛

A lovely way to start our morning — loose parts play to welcome the children in 🥰

This open-ended play brings so many opportunities for imagination and creativity. Today we saw lots of pretend food and drinks, stacking, and exploring different ways to thread hoops onto poles 🔄

There was so much trying, testing, and discovering new ways to play — all led by the children’s own ideas 💡✨

Loose parts play supports:
🌟 Imagination & creativity
🌟 Problem solving & critical thinking
🌟 Fine motor skills
🌟 Independence & confidence
🌟 Communication & social skills

A calm, inviting start to the day filled with curiosity and exploration 💛

Busy Little Bees 🐝💛

Today we made some beautiful paper plate bumble bees using glue and tissue paper 🎨✨

As we created, we had lots of lovely conversations about:
🐝 The sound bees make
🎨 Their colours and patterns
🌸 The flowers they visit
🍯 And of course… honey!

One child even shared, “If you’re not kind, bees sting you” — such a thoughtful link to kindness and respect 💛

The children worked independently, ripping, scrunching, and sticking their tissue paper — even enjoying the sounds and textures as they explored 🥰

It was so special watching their creations come to life, each one completely unique ✨

Skills developed:
🌟 Fine Motor Skills – ripping, scrunching, and sticking
🌟 Communication & Language – sharing ideas and knowledge
🌟 Understanding the World – learning about bees and nature
🌟 Expressive Arts & Design – creating independently

Our Day at Tate Modern 🎨✨

What an absolutely lovely and inspiring day we had! 💛

There was so much for all of our senses to explore — from colours and textures to movement and sound ✨

We even got the chance to meet Linda Bell, the artist behind Loop, Swing, Shake, Remake, and take part in this incredible project 🥰
The children loved being part of the experience — even becoming part of an art piece themselves!

We explored so many different types of art, talking about how it was made and what we could see, feel, and imagine 🎨

To top it all off, we brought home some little souvenirs to remember such a special day 💛

A perfect way to end the week and half term with our big children ✨

Another Day, Another Park 🥰🔢

Another park, another opportunity to learn through play! 💛

We put a fun twist on Snakes & Ladders — jumping onto the correct number when it was called out! 🐍🎲✨
How quickly could we find it? 👀👣

So much fun while building:
🌟 Number recognition
🌟 Listening skills
🌟 Quick thinking
🌟 Physical development
🌟 Confidence

Active learning at its best — smiles, movement, and lots of giggles along the way 🥰
