February is American Heart Month! 💖
Taking care of your heart is so important, and every little step counts. Here are some heart-healthy tips from the American Heart Association to help you feel your best:
1️. Move More, Sit Less: Aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate intensity exercise each week. If that feels like too much, break it up into smaller, more manageable sessions!
2️. Eat Smart: Enjoy a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and low-fat dairy. Try to limit saturated fats, trans fats, and sodium for a healthier heart.
3️. Maintain a Healthy Weight: Achieving and maintaining a healthy weight can help reduce your risk of heart disease and other health conditions.
4️. Know Your Numbers: Stay on top of your blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, and BMI with regular check-ups. Monitoring these important numbers can help keep your heart happy!
5. Quit Smoking: If you smoke, quitting is one of the best choices you can make for your heart. Don’t hesitate to reach out for support and resources to help you along the way.
6️. Limit Alcohol: If you drink, aim to do so in moderation—up to one drink per day for women, and up to two for men.
7️. Manage Stress: Take time to unwind and manage stress in healthy ways, whether that’s through exercise, meditation, or enjoying quality time with family and friends.
8️. Get Enough Sleep: Aim for 7-9 hours of restful sleep each night. Poor sleep can affect your heart health, so make it a priority!
Remember, small changes can lead to big improvements in your heart health! Let’s make our hearts a top priority this month and beyond!
