What is Stammering?
Stammering, also known as stuttering, is a speech disorder characterized by:

1. Repetition of sounds, words, or phrases
2. Prolongation of sounds
3. Intermittent blocking or freezing of speech
4. Difficulty initiating or maintaining a steady flow of speech
5. Unusual tension or struggle in the speech muscles
6. Secondary behaviors like lip tremors, eye blinking, or head jerking

Stammering can vary in severity, ranging from mild to severe, and can affect individuals of all ages, including children and adults. It's important to note that stammering is not a result of nervousness, shyness, or poor intelligence, but rather a neurological difference that affects speech processing.

What is Social Partner Stage?
The Social Partner stage is the first stage of the SCERTS model, where a child is using fewer than 3 words or phrases (which may be spoken, signed, involves pictures, written words or other symbolic system) referentially, regularly and with communicative intent. It focuses on developing a child's ability to engage in reciprocal and meaningful relationships. In this stage, the child:

- Seeks out others for social interaction
- Initiates and maintains conversations
- Develops a sense of self and identity
- Understands and respects the perspectives of others
- Engages in cooperative play and shared activities
- Develops emotional intelligence and empathy

The Social Partner stage is typically reached around ages 0-18, and is characterized by a sense of mutual respect, trust, and understanding between the child and their communication partners.
