The Joy Temple

The Joy Temple The reality of life is that “S*!T is going to happen but so what, it’s how we respond that will make all the difference.

Joy is the feeling of great pleasure or happiness and it's something that many are struggling to find in the day to day, so I’ve created the Joy Temple -a place where you can step into the moment and enJOY. My name’s Jan and people I meet are amazed, curious and inspired about how positive and joyful I am and I simply tell them that ‘joy’ can be a choice and it’s one that I make every day, even on days that may not feel joyful. I'll be creating some workshops where you can join me for some joyful activities.

Here’s the replay of The Joy Temple when my gorgeous partner Shak joined me to share our love story. I met him on Tinder when I was 52 and at the time my life was in turmoil – having been made redundant and struggling to find work, facing financial hardship and the prospect of leaving my beloved Melbourne closing in quickly. It was chaos and amidst the craziness, our paths crossed and that was it.

On the show, we talked about what brought us together and how we live a life of focussing on our beautiful future together. The key to our success as a couple is both wanting the same thing and co-creating, having mutual love and respect for each other, being open in our communication, having fun, and so much more.

This is a story about manifesting not only love, but also co-creating to buy our first home and supporting each other’s goals and ambitions.

I had actually wrote a list of all the qualities of the person who I wanted to love and it’s amazing how pretty much everything on that list came to me, even down to having a younger man.

We encourage anyone looking for love, not to give up and to be really clear on what you want and put it out to the universe.

You can tune in from 9 – 11am Saturday’s on Hutt Radio 88.3FM - Your voice in the valley, streaming on app, or via our website, huttradio.co.nz.

Here’s the replay of my show with Laquita who I met at the Lower Hutt Market when she was promoting her hair dressing business – Laquita’s Hair Studio.

She came to share her beautiful love story. Laquita always knew that she wanted to have a love relationship that was filled with joy, peace and safety, but through a series of traumatic experiences which she openly shared on the show, she attracted relationships that were not healthy. She experienced extreme domestic violence that saw her needing to escape to Women’s refuge where she was able to start the healing journey and plan her next steps towards change.

She has worked to heal the trauma that was so deeply within her, and through her art and other methods, came the freedom to be able to find her inner peace and eventually find a beautiful loving and healthy relationship that began with a friend request on Facebook.

Laquita’s message was to know that there is help available to those who are in similar situations and want to break the cycle and make change and to never give up.

It can take a lot to stand up, break free, and make change and she has done it and kept her heart open.

If you need help, please contact Women’s Refuge, on 0800 733 843 or 1737 Need to talk. Help is available.

Tomorrow my guest is Andrew Hardwick who hosts the Change Habits and Thrive program each Tuesday on Hutt Radio. We will be talking about “The Silly Season”, which can bring great joy, fun and excitement to some, and great anxiety and stress to others.

There are many things to navigate at this time of the year such as financial and family pressures, gifting giving, loneliness, grief, seasonal depression and more. We will discuss ways for us to take some of the pressure off, and hopefully make it a time that feels manageable and easier.

He’ll play some of his favourite songs, I’ll find out what brings him joy and I might even throw in a Christmas song or two.

Be kind to yourself and others, and if you need support, call 1737 Need to talk.

You can tune in from 9 – 11am Saturday’s on , streaming on app, or via our website, huttradio.co.nz. I'll also be streaming on The Joy Temple Facebook so if you have any questions you can join in.
