Tummy trouble such as discomfort or diarrhoea for three weeks or more, or blood in your p*e – even just once, could be a sign of cancer.

It’s probably nothing serious, but finding cancer early makes it more treatable.

🌿 Mindful March 🌿

March is a great reminder to slow down and be present in the moment.

Being mindful doesn’t have to be complicated — it can be as simple as taking a few deep breaths, stepping outside for fresh air, or pausing for a moment of gratitude.

In the busyness of everyday life, taking a little time to check in with ourselves can make a big difference to our wellbeing. Small moments of mindfulness throughout the day can help reduce stress, improve focus, and bring a sense of calm.

This Mindful March, try to:
✨ Take a few minutes each day to pause and breathe
✨ Notice the little things that bring you joy
✨ Be kind to yourself and others
✨ Focus on the present moment

Mindfulness is not about perfection — it’s about awareness and giving yourself permission to slow down. 💚

Symptoms such as ongoing tiredness, swelling, changes in urination or persistent kidney pain should never be ignored. Lifestyle choices, hydration and underlying health conditions all play a role in kidney health.

There is also growing concern about ketamine use in young people, as it can cause serious damage to the bladder and kidneys, sometimes leading to long-term complications. Knowing the risks and acting early can help protect kidney function and overall wellbeing. 🩺💧💙✨

Young Carers Action Day shines a light on the incredible young people who help care for family members, often balancing responsibilities at home with school and friendships.

The 2026 theme focuses on Action for Equality, calling for better recognition, improved support in schools, access to training and employment opportunities, and meaningful breaks so young carers can thrive just like their p*ers.

Some young carers may miss school activities or struggle with their mental health due to caring responsibilities, which is why awareness and understanding matter. Schools, organisations and communities can access resources and posters to help raise awareness and ensure young carers are not held back. 💙🌟✨

🌟MEET A NEW MEMBER OF THE TEAM 🌟

Julie started her pharmacy carer in 2001 as a student Pharmacy Technician at Cornwell’s Chemist in Silverdale.

After qualifying, Julie worked at Royal Stoke Hospital in March 2004. Her role was varied requiring her to work in the busy hospital dispensary, on the wards and in the manufacturing department.

After 19 years in secondary care, in 2023 Julie started at Moorlands and Rural PCN. She then went on to a brand-new role as Integrated Care Pharmacy Technician at the Haywood hospital.

Julie missed Primary Care and wanted to return to a PCN setting. Julie started at Newcastle South PCN in December 2025.

Her main duties include medication reconciliation, ensuring correct and appropriate prescribing of medications, cost saving initiatives set out by the integrated care board and monitoring of high-risk drugs ensuring patients are up to date with any relevant tests they may need.

In her spare time, Julie enjoys watching Stoke City FC, crime dramas, and documentaries and she enjoys spending time with her family, friends and 2 children.
