Two special beings in my pack 👦🐶

As we age I can’t help but feel more and more grateful for all the challenges and joys.

I rehomed little Pepe when he was 3, 14 years ago! And we’re still lucky enough to have him around.

They love us because we protect them, feed them and house them. Animals have a regulated nervous system and help us to feel calm and loved. So get stroking!!

It's on!

If you’re living with trauma that still shows up as tension, numbness, hyper-vigilance or feeling disconnected from your own body — this Trauma-Sensitive Yoga course could be for you...

"Trauma Sensitive Yoga - 10 week course with Esme, at The Secret Space.

A 10 week group trauma sensitive class led by Esme, who is a trained TCTSY-F (Trauma Centre Trauma Sensitive Yoga Facilitator)

TCTSY is a specialised body-based practice to help treat complex PTSD.

This body-based practice has its foundations in neurobiology, hatha yoga, attachment and trauma theory to create a safe framework with which participant and facilitator explore ‘having a body together’. This in turn, can help to cultivate feelings of safety, embodiment and empowerment within oneself, and ultimately better mental and physical health."

Starting Tuesday 14th April 2025, 2-3pm. 🌱🩷🥰

Havening is a psychosensory therapy originally developed for trauma.

It uses gentle touch, attention, and distraction to support trauma depotentiation — helping reduce the emotional charge held in the nervous system.

But it’s not only for processing the past AND you can use the technique yourself.

Practised consistently, Self-Havening also helps establish a calmer baseline in the nervous system — so you’re less reactive, recover more quickly from stress, and live from a steadier place day-to-day.

This is how resilience is built:
• Through repetition, not force
• Through safety signals, not reliving
• Through regulation becoming familiar

You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from the his method.
This is about creating capacity for a calmer life.

We explore Self-Havening gently and accessibly in my monthly Nervous System Reset — a space to learn practical tools, down-regulate stress, and reconnect with your body in a trauma-informed way.

🌕✨ Full Wolf Moon Magic ✨🌕

Tonight, the first full moon of 2026 — the Wolf Moon. Full moons are a good time for releasing what no longer serves you, setting intentions for the coming month.

As Einstein said, “everything is energy”. Humans are cyclical, our bodies transform and grow in cycles. Once you start paying attention to the energy around you, you can connect with its alignment and flow through life with greater ease🌙💫

Balasana (Child’s Pose)

I come to this shape every day. I’ve always loved being close to the ground…. It’s so grounding!

The gentle compression of the abdomen and chest, combined with slow, calm breathing, sends signals to the body that encourage relaxation, lower heart rate, and reduced stress—classic “rest and digest” effects of the parasympathetic system.

We can use these postures as daily tools to come back to balance, not just in class.

The science of getting outside!!

When you walk, especially in daylight, your brain gets flooded with signals that reset your internal clock, balance cortisol, and boost dopamine — all helping you feel alert, calm, and focused.

Neuroscientist (who’s great and unpacks the science behind so many interesting human aspects) explains that morning sunlight on your eyes triggers serotonin release (your mood stabiliser) and sets the timer for melatonin (your sleep hormone) to kick in later. Combine that with gentle movement, and you’ve just told your nervous system: you’re safe, you can breathe. 🧘

If you suffer with ptsd, anxiety, depression, moving and getting outside is a crucial component of healing. The rhythm of your steps and the light in your eyes literally rewire your circadian and emotional systems.

So if you do one thing for your nervous system today — walk outside for 10 minutes, no sunglasses, before 10 a.m. Even in the rain!!! ☔️ ®️

It was a pleasure to attend this event the other week, hosted by who was brilliant.

Bessels work in the field of trauma has brought to light the importance of somatic methods, community and connection in healing from trauma. Elements that are arguably not present in the Western medical system. 😕 The ‘third pillar’ of healing include methods such as yoga, somatic therapies, , acupuncture, dance therapy ….etc are JUST as important to heal! Trauma is an epidemic that causes so many illnesses ….. So let’s explore other methods, connect to the energy of being human, talk to others. The drugs will just mask what really needs healing ❤️
