ed first-hand the importance of positive touch on a baby’s development. Massage, reflexology and yoga can enhance the bond between parents and baby and can help with common issues in infancy such as colic, constipation, teething pains, sleeping difficulties and skin complaints. ALL babies are welcome in our classes, massage can be particularly beneficial for babies who have been born prematurely and those with additional health needs. Twins and triplets are welcome, please contact me for a code for discounted booking. We offer local face-to-face classes, home visits, focus workshops, Dad’s workshops and can offer gift vouchers on request. Any questions or queries then please contact me for further information.

Today celebrates International Neonatal Nurses Day. 🍓Strawberry Stay and Play - 22nd August (11am - 12pm) 🍓

This ‘stay and play’ type session will include the usual refreshments, photo opportunities, relaxing music, sensory play time and hand/footprints, but there won’t be any formal massage or reflexology. It will be an opportunity to meet other new mamas and older siblings will be welcome to come along to help! I will be on hand to offer massage or reflexology moves to help with common baby issues such as teething, colic or cough and colds.

Whilst older siblings are welcome to attend, please be mindful that the session is aimed at babies from birth to 18 months old. A sibling ticket must be purchased for children older than 18 months so that we can keep an eye on numbers and provide them with refreshments.

🧠 Have You Had Unusual Experiences While Your Baby Was in the SCBU/NICU?

The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust are conducting a research study exploring unusual experiences parents may have had while their baby/babies were receiving care on the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU), such as seeing, hearing, or sensing things that weren’t there, or having intrusive thoughts or images.

These experiences are more common than people realise, especially during times of intense stress and researchers want to learn more.

🧑‍⚕️ The study is led by Dr Caítriona Collins (Clinical Psychologist) and Dr Nicholas Embleton (Consultant Neonatal Paediatrician).

🗣️ Taking part involves a 45–90 minute interview where you will be talked to about any experiences you’ve had.

✅ You can take part if:

- Your baby/babies received care at the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) SCBU/NICU in the last 15 years
- Or they are currently about to be discharged from the unit
- You are 18+ years old
- You have a good understanding of English
- You are not currently in mental health crisis

💖 I don’t teach my classes as a job, I’ve got a full-time one of those already… I do it because I love to see parents and their babies enjoying quality time together, learning a new skill and meeting new people. Every single one of you who books onto one of my sessions makes me happy… so please spread the word, and hopefully more parents will see our posts and hopefully come along and join the Willow River Gray family 💖
