The are about to begin the Winter 2023 Edition of our yoga challenge. We would love for you to join us February 1 - 28!! Each day, we will do a heart opening pose and a counter pose. Always modify the poses if you like or add your own style points or variations. Sundays, we take a break from poses and will reflect on the theme for the month.

Not after I read the book Wheels of Life by that my curiosity in chakras peaked. Ever since, I have spent a lot of time learning and understanding as much as I can about Chakras.

What is Chakra?

Chakra means “wheel” and refers to the energy centers in our body. There are 7 main chakras that run along our spine. The function of the Chakras is to stay open and balanced.

If they get blocked, you may experience physical or emotional symptoms related to a particular chakra. You can unblock them through yoga postures, breathing exercises, and meditation practice.

Each chakra has yoga poses that may help fine-tune its energy.

In my Chakra series, I’ll explain in detail and share poses that will help unblock each of our seven chakras.

The yoga pose is not the goal. Becoming flexible or standing on your hands is not the goal.

The goal is to create space where you were once stuck. To unveil layers of protecting you’ve built around your heart. To appreciate your body and become aware of your mind and the noise it creates. To make peace with who you are. The goal is to love,…well, you.

To me yoga is all about moving with my body at my own pace and rhythm, a pace and rhythm I am comfortable with. I have compared my practice with other yogis in the past, yogis who could go a little deeper into their pose, and not only did that make me question my capabilities but it also didn’t help me get any better. It was then I realised that I had to focus on myself, my practice and how far I have come along in my yoga journey rather than making someone else’s achievement my goal.

Hi! I’m Radhika, a newly-certified Yoga teacher, with over 4+ years of experience practising Yoga. I’ll be using this space to share highlights of my practice — while also sharing with you what keeps me motivated, disciplined and focused — especially while there’s so much out there designed to distract you.

For me, it’s not about being the most flexible or being able to do a headstand — it’s simply about showing up on the mat every single day, even if you’re just breathing. 🧘‍♀️And that is what I’ll be talking about here on my Insta. Hopefully, you’ll find it useful enough to implement this in your lifestyle too. ✨

To get into some technical specifics, I’m trained in Ashtanga, Vinyasa Flow & Yin Yoga. Asthanga teaches you discipline, Vinaya flows creates a rhythm in your body and yin teaches you to slow down - a perfect blend of balance to keep you grounded.
