If you’re over 40, you need to start prioritising your health. It’s a bit of a shock but consider, you’re building the body you want now for your eighties. Getting and staying fit is more important now than ever before.
Here are three habits to cultivate now:
⭐Sustainable & consistent strength training
Guess what, now you get to start worrying about your bone density! Weight-bearing exercise develops your bones and decreases the risk of osteoporosis. By “sustainable,” I mean let go of the “train hard” mentality; you need to be able to exercise daily, so work out to a standard you can maintain. Be consistent.
⭐Increased focus on proper nutrition
As you age, your body starts needing a little more help when it comes to staying healthy. This means you need to nourish yourself properly. A balanced, nutrient-rich diet will help your body recover from exercise and put back the nutrients you might not make as much of anymore.
⭐Focus on flexibility
Joints will start seizing up soon, so upping your focus on stretching is essential to maintain good posture and avoid getting a dowager's hump, but it’ll also help you avoid ending up in pain.
Everything about your body is very much “use it or lose it,” so you must make sure you’re using everything you’d like to keep when you’re older.
