Flow State Nutrition Howdy! I am a Dietitian who focuses on sports nutrition for endurance athletes and intuitive eating You will not find the word "diet" in her vocabulary!

Tory earned her Master's in Public Health and Nutrition from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona. She is a board-certified Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) and founder of Flow State Nutrition. She is based in Victor, ID, but works with clients all over the country. Tory's mission is to dispel nutrition myths and improver her client's relationship with food and their bodies. In

stead, Tory specializes in intuitive eating and promotes an "all foods fit" approach. Additionally, Tory works with active people, focusing on performance nutrition. As a trail runner, mountain biker, and backcountry skier, Tory understands the unique demands of the mountains. Her goal is to teach her clients what, when, and how to eat through evidence-based nutrition and realistic lifestyle adjustments. Does this sound familiar? 👇🏻

🧠 “If I buy a bag of chips, they will be gone in one day.”
🧠 “If only I had more willpower, I wouldn’t have failed that diet.”
🧠 “I am so good all day, but at night I feel out of control around food.”
🧠 “I’m trying to eat healthy, but I have no self-control.”

I think we’ve all been here.

From very early on, we've been taught that if we can’t stick to a diet, somehow we’re failures. Somehow, it’s our fault: we lack the self-control. We lack the willpower.

So what if I told you that diet willpower is a myth? When it comes to what you eat and when, you have a lot less control than you think.

Instead, there are physiological, biological, and psychological mechanisms that are making you want that food! Your body is trying to tell you something.

Yes, we all know carbs are essential during our efforts...

But, what about protein!? 🤯

Yup, we need that too!

The general recommendation for efforts over 3 hrs is to consume 5-10g of protein per hour.

This can prevent muscle breakdown and feelings of hunger during those longer efforts!

💭 If you think to yourself, "I can’t stop eating candy, even when I’m full," I want you to know that feeling out of control around candy is not the problem

Instead, it is a symptom of unmet needs - physically or emotionally

So, let’s try to uncover what is really going on, by asking yourself these three questions 👇🏻

1. Am I allowing candy on a normal basis?
2. Am I saving up calories to that you can eat the candy?
3. How am I eating the candy?
