SNL: Dharma is a monthly program wherein we invite a prominent teacher to address us on the dharma topic of their choice. This month's topic is: Your Life Matters Part 2- Eight steps for racial reconciliation.
Dr. Shakoor will discuss eight steps, or points, a person or community can follow to bring about racial harmony. This concept can be applied in all situations where the potential of conflict is eminent. The philosophical foundations of this talk is based in part from Buddhist psychology and the book Ghetto Sutras.
This program is online. We will send the zoom link the day of the program.
Dr. K.A. Shakoor, DAOM, brings more than 50 years of experience to the AUM Institute through his extensive training in energetic and internal mind/body and holistic medical practices. Increasingly, scientific research funded and conducted by the most reputable institutions in the nation and the world are showing that energetic disciplines create excellent results when integrated with other health modalities. Studies have also shown that energetic modalities have positive impact towards an individual’s enrichment, serving as a catalyst to achieve a person's maximum potential in health, wellness and everyday life. Yet, all too often, instruction in energetic disciplines are either limited to a single philosophy, too complex to integrate effectively into daily life, too shallow to provide much benefit, or just the offering of unscrupulous personalities to take advantage of your naiveté.
The AUM Institute of Energetic Medicine integrates the most effective systems of energetic disciplines to bring balance and health to our whole being: body, mind and spirit. Our program includes modalities that are being heralded and recognized today for their invaluable contribution to avert the on setting of disease. AUM will expand your personal wellbeing, profession and career by teaching you the arts of mind/body, energetic and spiritual/humanistic practices, including Medical Qi-Gong, Tai-Chi Chuan, Mindfulness, Medication and Yoga; the philosophies of Traditional Chinese, Japanese , Ayurvedic and Native American Medicines; and Compassionate Psychology, Emotional Intelligence, Empathic Listening & Counseling, and Wellness Coaching. The entire curriculum encompasses 1,440 hours of quality instruction stretched over six semesters.
Our degree program in Integrative Energetic Medicine is not one of the so many programs and degrees you could achieve from a remote location in cyberspace. Our unique and effective adjunct degree program is taught over five days once per month in a hands-on, small-class environment (limited to 25 students) in the Santa Fe College GTEC Center in Gainesville, Florida. The teaching staff is a dynamic group of recognized experienced experts in the fields of therapy and energetic practices, in both oriental and western medicine. We have distinguished ourselves as leaders in the field, and as role models in our community, and are excited to share this information with you.
Who Should Come to this School?
We strongly believe the disciplines offered through the AUM Institute of Energetic Medicine can benefit anyone in the general population by reducing stress, improve morale, outlook, and one’s physical and mental health regardless of age, gender, size or physical condition. However, the adjunct degree has been put together with the health professional in mind. The teaching staff at AUM know what your challenges are in the health field. We know what it is that a large portion of the patient population requires and we know how to enhance the health professional's career, skills, and treatment plan by expanding their approach to health care with integrative energetic medicine.
Health & Wellness Practitioners:
Persons who are actively working in the western and TCM medical models, mental health and health & wellness fields would enhance their personal energetic body in order to not just maintain a higher level of focus, stamina, compassion, and cognizant abilities on a continual basis. But would, with their new skill set, also expand their service offerings to their client or patient base with a greater degree of success and personal pride in not only achieving the health expectations of their patients, but also empowering them with a preemptive tool set to advert future disease.
Those in High-Stress Occupations:
Professionals in areas of high stress, even if they are not engaged in the health fields directly, can discover new and more effective ways to combat stress and depression. Persons in customer service, emergency medical services, social work, education, judicial and law enforcement fields, and other high-stress occupations are a few of the career areas that would most definitely benefit and profit from the experience and skill set you would be attaining in this program.
This program is also beneficial to those who always felt they had a calling for the health arts but that for some reason took a different path in life. Those who have always wondered about the benefit of preempting disease with an alternative point of view from the western model. Stay-at-home-mothers, homemakers, retirees, and those who always wanted to learn these disciplines but never had the time or opportunity to do it before.
