Sunday, October 5, was World Teacher’s Day, a time to recognize and celebrate educators who open doors through knowledge and inclusion—like Elisha Zuaro, a dedicated literacy specialist who is empowering students through literacy, especially Braille literacy.

A proud graduate of the Alabama School for the Blind, Elisha went on to earn her bachelor’s in elementary education from Jacksonville State University and a master’s in education from Vanderbilt University, specializing in teaching children who are visually impaired.

Now serving as a literacy specialist for grades 6–12 at the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind, Elisha is also the secretary of the American Association of Blind Teachers, an ACB special interest affiliate.

Thank you, Elisha, and all teachers who make learning accessible and empowering for every student.
