The theme of the week is: Birth. What a card to pull the week of “Labor” Day! This week, I invite you to ponder what it is you are bringing forth into this world. What are you literally or metaphorically bringing to life? What are you creating from your own body, blood, sweat, and tears?

When most people think about “birth,” the words that come to mind are often words associated with fear, like “pain,” “unpredictable,” and “chaos,” but in reality birth can actually be a very peaceful and grounded experience.

Some important questions to ask yourself as you prepare to undergo this life-changing transformation:

✨Who is on your support team?

✨What are your hopes and dreams? Your expectations?

✨Have those hopes/dreams/expectations been communicated to the appropriate parties?

✨What are you boundaries? Your priorities? Your non-negotiables?

✨And perhaps most importantly… What stories are you telling yourself about this process? How are you envisioning the outcome?

As I say to my HypnoBirthing® clients, “Words are spells. Cast them with care.”

WORDS become ➡️ THOUGHTS become ➡️ FEELINGS become ➡️ ACTIONS become ➡️ REALITY.

Manifest your absolute best experience.

As much as I want to bury my head in the sand about summer’s wind-down, the calendar tells me that school starts back up in TWO WEEKS. Here’s what I’m doing to keep my sanity during this transition:

✏️Hitting the easy button on school supply shopping. I ordered everything online, and tossed the supply list, a pencil, and a big black sharpie into a clear tote. As items arrive, I label them with the sharpie, check them off the list, and store them in the tote. On Open House day, I can grab the entire tote and we’ll be ready to go!

✏️Pivoting our cabin week to a staycation. Last year, we rented a cabin—just the four of us, to close out the summer and we liked the idea of making that a tradition. This year, as the date crept closer and we had yet to book the AirBnb, we finally looked at each other and said “I don’t think this is happening.” That’s not to say that it won’t happen next year! But this year, it felt best to change our plans and enjoy hitting up some fun local experiences instead.

✏️Scheduling in non-kid fun. Last week, I channeled my feminine rage at karaoke. Next week is our annual State Fair trip with friends. We will wear matching t-shirts, put many miles on our tennis shoes, play people-watching and consume many calories while sampling new foods. It’s kind of the best.

✏️Leaning into my word of the year: Acceptance for first day of school expectations. For instance, I know that the classic First Day send-off pic probably isn’t going to happen with my kiddo. Also, he is not interested in back-to-school clothes shopping. And that’s okay. This doesn’t have to be a Pinterest-worthy moment.

✏️Mindfully planning for fall with my new Playbook.

✏️Hiring a regular, monthly cleaner. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for YEARS—and I fully acknowledge my privilege at being able to hire this task out.

✏️Being really gentle with myself the first week of school, knowing that not only will my kid be extra worn out and overstimulated, but I will likely be extra emotional with his transition to a new grade as well.

✏️Getting back to therapy after a few months off.

Solidarity to you all!

Sometimes the thing that was meant to be a gift ends up feeling more like a burden.

In sticking with our “harvest” theme this week, let’s use the garden as an example. You plant the seeds in the spring, then spend most of the spring and early summer tending to it. Watering, pulling weeds, pruning, shooing away critters, cheering on those little sprouts, all in the hopes that you’ll soon be able to enjoy the fruits of your labor.

Fast forward to late summer as you realize you’ve bitten off a little more than you can chew. Everything seems to be ripe and ready to be picked all at once. You’re drowning in tomatoes. Running out of neighbors to “gift” giant zucchinis to. Sick of trying to come up with more ways to use these veggies, but even sicker at the thought of them going to waste. (Anyone else? This can’t just be my experience 😅).

What you once waited in anticipation for is now here before your eyes, and yes—it is a gift. And also, it’s a lot of work. Both things can be true!

Oftentimes when we hear “harvest,” we think of the END of the season. The culmination of all your hard work and effort. When in reality, the work has only just begun. Now that the gift is abundantly HERE, you have to figure out what to do with it. The Five of Wands suggests that many hands don’t always necessarily make light work. As you’re harvesting your (literal or metaphorical) gifts this week, watch for “too many cooks in the kitchen” energy. When in doubt, simplify.

Whether or not you realize it, you are going through a metamorphosis. This very moment. Can you feel it? Maybe you can and maybe you can’t, but there’s no denying it. The season is changing—slowly, slowly, from summer to fall. From bold, creative Leo to intentional, orderly Virgo. Depending on where you are in your own personal transformation process, you might feel anxious, excited, doubtful, hopeful, or some combination of complex emotions.

I asked the cards what will help ease us through this transformation, and they responded with Temperance. Whenever Temperance shows up, I breathe a sigh of relief. Temperance is like a guardian angel who places the comforting weight of their hands upon your tense shoulders and says “Breathe, my child. This, too, shall pass. Don’t rush it. Don’t make any rash decisions. Just take it a little bit at a time.” When you feel like your world is spinning—or, conversely, when you feel like everyone else is making progress and you’re just sitting there, stuck—Temperance is a grounding presence, washing over you with gentle calm.

This change is slow. And growth can be painful. I’m sure you’ve heard by now that the caterpillar must literally turn to mush before it can emerge as a beautiful moth or butterfly. If you’re currently in the “mush” phase, hang in there. It will be worth the wait. The Seven of Cups represents the many doors that will open for you once your transformation is complete. It may be hard to envision from the darkness of your cocoon, but one day you’ll peel back the final layer of chrysalis and step blinking into the sunlight. Once your eyes adjust, you’ll see that there are many opportunities lying before you. The world is your oyster! It will be up to you to decide which path to take. 🦋

This week, I offer you a fill-in-the-blank, MadLibs-style intuitive reading for the collective. Build your own mantra for the week:

This week, you are asked to become a student of the world. 🌏

Humbly seek out a teacher or wise elder.
Ask really good questions.
Take notes.
Listen more than you speak.

It's true, we are all experts on something--but now is not the time to showcase YOUR expertise. Solicit the advice or guidance from ANOTHER this week. After all, as the great genius Albert Einstein said, "Once you stop learning, you start dying."

Our theme this week is GROWTH. 🌱 In response to the question “What will support us in our growth?” I received the Three of Swords. 💔 In response to the question “What gifts will come from our growth?” I received the Ace of Wands. 🔥 The message:

In order to GROW, you will need to allow yourself to experience the FULL DEPTH AND BREADTH of your heartache—your sorrow, your grief, your loss, your pain. Then and only then will you be able to fully receive the GIFT that’s being extended to you.

Thursday's New Moon in fire sign Leo ties in nicely with the gift being offered by the Ace of Wands. This gift is one of purpose. A spark of passion. An igniting of ones' inner fire and outer glow. The seeds you plant this week will lead to beautiful growth and transformation... But first, we must take on the painful, uncomfortable work of the Three of Swords. Much like a tree needs pruning in order to flourish and form new buds, we, too, must experience a metaphorical severing from time to time in order to step into the next version of ourselves.

Be gentle with yourselves this week. And feel all the feels.

It’s The Fool and the Star for us this week, my friends… They’re giving “blind optimism.” Think: “make a wish and take a leap.”

It is interesting to pull these two cards together this week, as they are both associated with Uranus, the planet of change and disruption, which recently made a big transit into Gemini, the sign of communication.

It feels fitting to share these words about the Uranus transit from badass Wise Womxn and Astrologer to the stars,

“As the age of info overload reaches a flashpoint, Uranus asks you to think for yourself, both loudly and rowdily. To break free from the echo chamber of the algorithm. And to interrogate the message of any viral meme or hot take you’ve been mindlessly parroting. If you feel like your worldview gets turned upside-down, take the opportunity to flex your mental muscles. As much as you can, experiment with new habits and routines during this transit. Socialize outside of your usual circles. Change your mind in public. Take a time-out from your social feeds, group chats, or news alerts so you can tune out the noise for a second. And try not to get stuck in your head, where it can be tempting to intellectualize every problem instead of feeling your actual feelings.”

This week the Universe dares you to do the Big Brave Thing. The Fool tells us to throw caution to the wind. Whatever it is you’ve been standing on the precipice of, it’s time to close your eyes and jump! The Star supports this endeavor, advising you to proceed as if the best possible outcome is already making its way towards you. ‘Cause, spoiler alert: it is!

This week calls for boundaries… 🙅‍♀️

“Boundaries” has become somewhat of a buzzword in the wellness industry as of late. But what exactly do we mean?

So often when we talk about setting boundaries, we focus on the EXTERNAL: saying “no” to things or people; taking on fewer responsibilities or activities; limiting our time with people who hurt or drain us; or cutting them out of our lives completely. Those are boundary-setting acts, for sure, but that’s not *exactly* what we’re talking about this week.

This week, our Tarot Teachers advise us to turn INWARD with our boundaries. To consider what setting boundaries with ourSELVES might look like.

Have you found yourself getting off track with your goals? Have negative thoughts been sending you spiraling (or maybe leaving you frozen)? Have you fallen into unhealthy habits that no longer feel good? Now would be a great time to reset. Thursday’s Full Moon in Capricorn assists in the “shedding and resetting” process and provides the structure and support to get back on track. ♑

And you know what’s just one letter away from “reset?” REST. The Four of Swords reminds us that before we can begin anew, we must rest. Not just our bodies, but our minds and spirits as well. A restful practice might look like meditation, prayer, intermittent fasting, letting your eyes rest on the pages of a book instead of the blue light of a screen, taking a walk in nature, doing a digital detox, taking a bath, or taking a nap. Consider adding one (or more!) of these practices into your week, or come up with your own creative way to rest.

The Ace of Cups is an invitation to begin anew. It is also a reminder that setting boundaries doesn’t have to feel harsh or stern. We can lovingly set boundaries (with ourselves and others), while keeping our hearts open. Its presence also suggests that perhaps the boundary you set this week will lead to the opening of new possibilities. Instead of the period at the end of a sentence, think of this week’s boundary as an ellipsis…

This week, you are invited to EMBRACE. 🫂

Embrace... Letting go
Embrace... Moving on
Embrace... Starting over
Embrace... The unknown
Embrace... Walking away
Embrace... Shifting gears
Embrace... A new journey
Embrace... Choosing peace
Embrace... Choosing yourself
Embrace... Listening to your gut
Embrace... Things not going to plan
Embrace... Being afraid and doing it anyway

You don't have to have it all figured out. Just identify the next right thing and do THAT. And then do the next right thing again. And again.

And repeat.

✨I hope this collective reading is supportive for you as you move through the week. Feel free to drop a comment with what resonated!✨
