Rest!
If your days are hectic right now, use 5 minutes to lie down and close your eyes.
Bringing the body to a physically relaxed state helps to restore energy.
Closing the eyes reduces the stimuli to the brain and allows the mind a chance to calm down.
Even 5 minutes helps!

Christmas is a time of gathering together with family and friends
It's a time when relationships are important and sometimes fraught.

In yoga, we can use the yama to inform our relationships and how we act in our relationships.
Here are some examples that crop up in our relationship dynamics...

Ahimsa - listening, understanding and not judging
Satya - being authentic and not pretending
Asteya - taking what is appropriate in terms of energy, gifts or time
Brahmacharya - listening without "fixing", dismissing or getting too involved
Aparigraha - being open to the present moment

Yoga is about relationship and the yama give us direction as to how to build healthy, mutually supportive relationships. This application of the yama in yoga is often overlooked but it is an important step in our yoga progression.
As yoga practitioners we can apply these guidelines to our relationships - professional and personal.

Can I offer others a place where they can feel safe and free to be who they are?
Is my speech truthful and gentle?
Can I fully respect what is mine and what is others, including my time and others time.
What does balancing the use of my energies look like for my situation?
Am I open to who another person is and open to changing my perception of them?

Can you link these reflections to the yama?
Non-harming, truthfulness, not taking what is not yours, moderation and not holding.

🌿 Seeing Possibilities 🌿

One of the most meaningful parts of being a yoga therapist is learning to really see a situation — not just the symptoms, but the person behind them.

Every story, every body, every challenge holds possibilities.
When we pause, listen, and gently assess what’s happening, new pathways begin to reveal themselves: ways to ease discomfort, support movement, calm the mind and nervous system and build confidence.

Yoga therapy isn’t about quick fixes — it’s about understanding, collaborating, and uncovering what is possible for and with each individual. ✨

What Does a Yoga Therapist Do?

If you’ve ever wondered how yoga therapy can support a health condition such as chronic pain, here’s an insight into how it can help.

A yoga therapist's role is to work with you one-to-one, using a combination of movement, breathwork, relaxation, and mindful awareness to support your health in a way that feels safe and achievable.

The starting point is listening to your experience of pain, your challenges, your lifestyle and your goals. From there, we work together on what the next steps could be and to build a personalised plan designed to:

✨ Reduce physical tension and pain
✨ Improve functional movement and breathing
✨ Calm a sensitised nervous system
✨ Build body awareness and confidence
✨ Support long-term wellbeing

Yoga therapy meets you where you are. It isn’t about forcing the body or “pushing through.” It’s about understanding your pain, learning how your body responds, and discovering tools that encourage ease, comfort and long term reduction.

Yoga therapy is collaborative, supportive, and grounded in both yoga knowledge and modern pain science. If you’re looking for a gentle, empowering way to manage chronic pain, consider yoga therapy.
