Are bars of soap and their dishes becoming a thing of the past? Certainly not in Amo & Pax. (we’ve just added these to our growing collection).

A practical & environmental view would be that soap bars last significantly longer than liquid soaps, that generally require plastic bottles & pumps.

I sometimes wonder if children are as familiar with the classic bar of soap these days, or if they really just experience a world of press pumps 🤔 . It’s curious to me how these simple things can slip away slowing over time.

Apart from all that, a nicely designed well made soap dish adds something to the bathroom, kitchen or scullery.

An interesting soap dish is actually not as easy to find as one might think. Thankfully Amanda is always on the hunt for a good one. Along with gorgeous soaps to match. You’ll find a selection in our shop, and we’ve added these new ones to our website.

I left my Lemon trees out all Winter in Dublin and they are doing fine. I took this photo of them 🍋🍋today after the rain. Looking healthy and full of fruit. Mind you, I bet, like the rest of us they are absolutely delighted to see the Sun 🌞 and a Blue sky this afternoon…

Featured here are our new Sicilian inspired Lemon 🍋 Ceramics - Colourful. Vibrant. Nice shapes. Water jug, mugs, Lemon head vase, espresso mugs, small platter. A gorgeous way to brighten a table. You can find them in the shop and we’ll put them on our website shortly.

I have a vivid memory of searching for Amanda on our travels this January. I finally caught sight of the top of her head amidst a sea of garments. Crouched down on her hands and knees, there she was enthusiastically looking specifically at each piece, selecting her favourites for the shop.

For us at Amo & Pax, so much is about colour, pattern, style. Finding that something we haven’t seen before (and may not again). It’s a constant for us, and we can’t help ourselves. Or perhaps we simply don’t want to. And so we have our new collection of hand stitched Kantha Jackets, just in.

Each jacket is made from vintage cotton block printed fabric which is then patiently hand stitched in rows of thread: a tradition called Kantha stitch. Hand printed fabric creatively turned in to these beautiful ONE OFF jackets. Turn up cuffs and high pockets. Roomy shape. Each one unique.

You’ll find them in our shop now, and we’ve added them to our website too.

We’ve never been drawn to the plain or the predictable. Because self expression in whatever small way we can find, is part of being human. We will always look for a way to show what we love, what inspires us, what shapes our character.

For us, it’s far more interesting to choose the piece that sparks a conversation than the one that blends quietly into the crowd. That’s why we’re delighted to introduce our new Art Socks Collection to the Shop. A find from our January travels. These gorgeously cool socks celebrate artists who showed us their way of seeing the world. Artists who took risks. Who believed that beauty belonged in everyday life. Who understood that art is not separate from living, it’s woven into it.

Our art socks are of course practical, warm and wearable. But more than that, they’re a small daily act of expression. A way to carry creativity with you. Because useful can also be beautiful. And even the every day can be art. Show a little ankle.

If Amo & Pax had a test kitchen, this would be it.

We haven’t exactly been hibernating throughout January but squirrelling 🐿️ away working on ideas & designing for 2026.

Amanda & have been back in the pottery, making jugs, mugs and more. The transformation from a crude ball of clay to colourful fired ceramic is always quite magical to us. So here we are at stage one of the process. Next step is the kiln, which will take time. There is a queue. We barely even notice the rain outside with all this going on.
