This video shows Dr Bish performing a bilateral breast reduction for a patient experiencing chronic neck and shoulder pain, as well as recurrent intertrigo. After a full history and examination, a breast reduction was considered the most suitable option. In this case, they reduced from a G-cup to an estimated D–DD.

This video includes postoperative results at the end, shown for educational purposes.

Each procedure is carefully planned to suit the individual, from pre-operative imaging and surgical approach to recovery and follow-up care.

Should you lose weight before DIEP Flap Surgery?

Weight can play an important role in planning for DIEP flap breast reconstruction. Factors such as BMI, abdominal tissue availability, and overall health can influence surgical planning and outcomes.

Key considerations:
• A higher body weight can increase the risk of wound healing issues, infection, and fat necrosis.
• Studies suggest complications become more likely when BMI is above ~32.
• Too little abdominal tissue may limit the amount of donor tissue available.
• Surgeons prefer steady, sustainable weight changes rather than rapid weight loss.
• A stable weight before and after surgery helps maintain results and recovery.

Wondering what the difference is between a breast lift and a breast reduction?

▪️ A breast lift (mastopexy) repositions the ni**le and reshapes existing tissue for a more lifted look, breast size usually stays the same.
▪️ A breast reduction removes both tissue and skin to reduce size and weight, while also lifting and reshaping.

Both involve similar incisions, but the goal is different, lift vs. reduce.

Knowing how your breasts normally look and feel helps you notice any changes early.

Possible symptoms include:
▪️ A lump or thickening in one breast
▪️ Changes in size or shape
▪️ Ni**le changes, redness, sores, crusting or inversion
▪️ Skin dimpling, rash, or colour changes
▪️ Unusual ni**le discharge
▪️ Persistent pain or swelling in the breast or armpit
