Sleep, Rest and Play LLC A Child Sleep Consultancy Service, providing parents and care givers the tools to get your little on You can too.

Having a husband who travels frequently for work, I needed my children to be good sleepers so that I could have the evenings to recuperate and get my energy back for the next day!. I knew that this whole process may be unpredictable but I also knew that I could take control of some things that would help the girls be good sleepers. Of course then came Toddlerhood and the challenges that come with it, switching from a crib to a bed, new sibling coming along, I am sure you can relate. With work, consistency, using sleep strategies and determination, I got there. I want to share this with other parents and reassure you that sleepless nights do not have to control your lives. You can absolutely enjoy your evenings whilst the kids are in bed, enjoy couple time, go out with friends, read a non baby related book or magazine and watch your favorite TV shows. This is why I decided to embark on this new career. I have trained in person with the best, Dana Obleman, Creator of the Sleep Sense program. Having had a career of supporting people in meeting their goals, I will work with you in an objective, non-judgmental way and will provide you the tools to help your child, yourself and the whole household get a good nights sleep.

With multiple kiddos in the house and with different bedtimes, it can seem hard to preserve our children's sleep when they come up for bed.
Try using an extra white noise machine in your hallway. This should drown out the extra noise and avoid the stress of noises waking up your little one.

When I talk to Toddler parents they often tell me they bribe their Kiddos with all the things, just so that they stay in their beds, so that they co=operate during their bedtime routines.
These bribes of getting to watch their favorite shows in the morning, or getting chocolate milk, or their fave toy may work for a day or two, but then their little ones lose interest.
They stop caring for the things promised for tomorrow, tomorrow is too far away.
You can certainly set incentives for your Toddler to get them motivated, however don't make these the focus.
Setting clear boundaries and expectations is going to help them feel secure in the knowledge that you are in control of the situation.
Rather than bribe, try using an immediate consequence with your Toddler and STICK with it.
If you do not brush your teeth, there will be no books tonight. If they don't comply, no books.
Try it and let me know how you get on.

When I work with families I often remind them where they started when they contacted me and how far their little one has come in such a short space of time.
Often the expectation can be quick results and perfect sleep for their little one.
It's important to step back and look at the overall picture.
if your little one was taking 1 hour to fall asleep before their plan, then taking 20 minutes 4 days in is progress.
Changes with sleep take time, look at the small steps and progress your little is taking to get to the ultimate goal.
Focus on the progress no matter how big or small and let that motivate you and keep going.
Be patient.
Be consistent.
Sleep Well!
