Joe Torre Safe At Home Foundation

Joe Torre Safe At Home Foundation Founded by Ali & Joe Torre in 2002 to end the cycle of domestic violence and abuse through education. These rooms are staffed by a master’s-level therapist.

By providing resources and support, our young people are able to cope with their trauma and find hope, healing, and empowerment for their futures. Our model is unique because it provides both clinical intervention and prevention services. At our school locations, we establish a safe room – known as Margaret’s Place, named after Joe Torre’s mother. In this setting, we:

-Have group and individual counseling for young people impacted by violence and abuse.
-Hold workshops for teachers to build a safer school environment.
-Hold workshops for parents to make homes and communities stronger.
-Raise awareness on how to prevent violence.
-Empower young people to become advocates and leaders.

Take a peek inside our Margaret’s Place site at BASE High School in Brooklyn, NY. 💛

Led by Margaret’s Place Counselor Ms. Eliza, this room is a space where students can pause, talk, and feel supported.

Our Margaret’s Place program creates safe space in schools offering both trauma-informed intervention and prevention services. Staffed by a master’s-level counselor, we teach every child about respect, how to care for themselves and each other, and how to support friends in need — so students feel safe and confident at school, and at home. 💛

🚩Red flags in teen dating relationships aren’t always obvious — and they don’t always appear all at once.

During Teen Dating Vi*lence Awareness Month, we’re encouraging young people and trusted adults to recognize patterns of pressure, control, and isolation.

Understanding these warning signs is an important part of prevention.

Hostos Lincoln Academy in the Bronx was the first school to open a Margaret’s Place site. This year, that history showed up on the walls as students and staff collaborated to create a mural inside the room. 🎨

We’re proud of the collaboration and excited to see students enjoy the updated Margaret’s Place space as they build healthy relationship skills and feel safe and confident at school. 💛✨

Exposure to vi*lence can shape how young people see themselves, their relationships, and what they believe is possible. But it doesn’t have to define them.

Through education, prevention, and safe spaces in schools, Safe At Home equips youth with the skills, confidence, and support they need to navigate challenges and build healthier futures. Because every young person deserves the tools to feel safe, valued, and empowered. 💛

Our in-school Margaret’s Place program is designed to grow with students.

While the heart of Margaret’s Place stays the same — a calm, welcoming space where students can talk things through — how we show up is adapted for each school community and age group.

At MS 217 in Queens, that means supporting middle school students as they navigate changing friendships, growing independence, and peer dynamics.

At every stage, students have a space to build skills that stay with them. 💛

Students at Palisades Charter High School in Los Angeles have faced extraordinary challenges — and their resilience continues to show in quiet, steady ways.

Our Margaret’s Place Counselor Miss Catey helps students lean into that resilience by bringing the focus back to two powerful practices: naming what they’re grateful for, and talking about what’s within — and outside of — their control.

In a community that has experienced so much disruption, these reflections are stabilizing. They help students stay grounded, even when life feels uncertain.
And that steady grounding is part of this school community’s strength. 💛

What would a space like this have meant to you in middle or high school?

Our in-school Margaret’s Place program is led by master’s-level counselors and offers students a dedicated space to step away, talk things through, and build skills to manage stress, relationships, and tough moments.

At Bellflower Middle / High School in Los Angeles County, Miss Vanessa and Peer Leaders like Amaya are helping make support feel normal. 💛

Last week, we spent three meaningful days at the Little League International Congress, connecting with dedicated Little League administrators and volunteers from around the world. 🌍⚾️

We shared support resources, talked about partnership, and reflected on what it really means to show up for young people — on and off the field. Together, we remain committed to ensuring young people are safe, protected, cared for, and given every opportunity to thrive. Wishing our Little League partners a safe and successful season ahead. 💛

Shoutout to Reagan Bills (slide 2), star pitcher from the Mid-Atlantic Team, who helped lead her team to a Little League Softball World Series win this year. 👏⚾️

We’re honored to share that Joe Torre Safe At Home Foundation has been selected as a 2026–2027 grantee of the Cabrini Health Foundation.

This multi-year grant will allow us to deepen our school-based mental health capacity-building work by integrating Margaret’s Place violence intervention and prevention services for elementary students at PS 117Q in New York.

This investment strengthens how schools and educators are equipped to support students through prevention, connection, and care — helping young people build the skills they need to navigate challenges and relationships safely.

Thank you to the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation for believing in this work and investing in long-term, school-based approaches that support student well-being. 💛
