Blueberry muffin or chocolate chip? Which wine is more likely to add inches to your waistline — red, white or sparkling? And if you’re craving pizza, how can you keep the damage to a minimum? 🤔

These were exactly the kinds of everyday dilemmas I wanted to help with when I wrote my first book, The Right Bite: Smart Food Choices For Eating On The Go - thank you Watkins Publishing! 🙏

I still remember the excitement of seeing it published — my very first book — and hoping it would make healthy eating feel a bit more practical and realistic. 😊

The idea is simple: you don’t have to be perfect. But when you’re faced with a choice, it helps to know how to make the least bad one. 🍔🍕🥐🍦🍷

Ten years on, I still love this little book — and I’m very grateful to everyone who has read it, shared it, or used it to navigate those small daily food decisions. 📖

And if you don’t already have a copy, it’s still out there, just waiting for you! 🧡

March is Endometriosis Awareness Month, although of course every month is endometriosis awareness month if you’re one of the 1 in 10 women living with this condition. 🥹

Severe period pain, vomiting, fainting — too often these symptoms are dismissed as “just one of those things”. But for many women, they may be signs of endometriosis. It's a complex condition that is still widely misunderstood and can take years to diagnose.

On The Happy Menopause Podcast, I spoke to Professor Janice Rymer and endometriosis nurse specialist Claudia Tye from the Advanced Endometriosis Clinic at Guy’s Hospital. 👩‍⚕️

We discuss what endometriosis actually is, why diagnosis can be so difficult, how it can affect women throughout their lives, and what happens when it overlaps with perimenopause and menopause. ♀️

We also talk about treatment options, supportive therapies, and why better awareness, research and advocacy are still so important in women’s health.

Are you ruling out strength training because you assume it will make arthritis worse? 💥

This is something I talked about with physiotherapist Chris Tiley in this month’s episode of The Happy Menopause Podcast — Never Too Old to Lift. 🎙

What’s really interesting is that the right kind of strength training can actually support joints rather than aggravate them. When the muscles around a joint (like the knee) are stronger, they help stabilise it and absorb more of the forces that go through it during everyday movement. 💪

In other words, the stronger the surrounding muscles are, the less excess load goes directly through the joint itself — creating something like a natural suspension system.

This means strength training may actually help reduce some arthritis symptoms, rather than making them worse.🏋‍♀️

Listen to the episode Never Too Old to Lift here: https://www.well-well-well.co.uk/never-too-old-to-lift/ or wherever you get your podcasts to hear the full conversation and all of Chris’s brilliant, expert advice. He’s full of great tips to help you get started on your strength journey. 🧡

10 years ago this month, I published my first book, The Right Bite 📖

I still remember the feeling of a dream come true when it was first commissioned. ✨️

I'll never forget the excitement of holding it in my hands for the first time — and being completely shocked when someone asked me to sign it at the launch party! I don’t think I properly considered myself an author until my third book came out. 😂

Writing a book is intense, often lonely work, and can be frustrating at times.
But there is nothing like seeing the fruits of your efforts come to life and knowing it’s making a difference to people’s health and wellbeing 🧡

This World Book Day, I’m incredibly grateful to Watkins Books for helping me share the importance of nutrition in the UK — and beyond, as my books have now been translated into French, Spanish, Italian, Mandarin, and soon Greek for The Happy Menopause. 🌎

A huge thank you to all of you for your support 🙏 — for reading and sharing my work, recommending it, and helping The Happy Menopause become a bestseller. 🏆

Do I have a fifth book in me? We’ll have to wait and see! 🤔

For now, I’m celebrating The Happy Menopause, The Happy Menopause Guide to Energy, Va Va Voom, and The Right Bite. 📚

Can you open a jar, or do you have to ask for help? Do you carry heavy bags easily or do other people to do the heavy lifting? How physically strong are you? 💪

That’s a very important question for women in mid- and later life, because the stronger you are, the better your health will be on a number of different levels. 🎉

The evidence base is clear – people who lift heavy weights have a much lower risk of the various chronic health issues that we need to take seriously as we get a bit older.

The great news is that it’s never too late to start, and the latest episode of The Happy Menopause podcast very much champions this notion. 🎧

I’m chatting to physiotherapist, author and strength expert Chris Tiley, the founder Never Too Old To Lift, a fabulous website and podcast full of excellent resources.

With a background in British ParaSnowSport, Chris built on his expertise to create Never Too Old To Lift to introduce strength training to people who never thought they’d be able to do it, and to inspire them to take their first steps on their journey to strength.

It’s an empowering and insightful chat and I guarantee it’ll make you want to get started! 🏋‍♀️

Thrilled to have a full house at Best Practice London today! I loved sharing clinical insights into the role of nutrition in primary care to support women in perimenopause and menopause.
It was a huge honour to be there to represent British Association for Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine - BANT and it was an absolutely brilliant day! 🧡

UTIs & cranberry 🍒 — myth or magic?

If you’re prone to UTIs, you’ll try anything. So here’s the good news: a Cochrane review of all the research found cranberry might help reduce recurrent infections. 🎉

But before you neck litres of cranberry juice…don’t! 🚫 It’s usually packed with sugar (to mask the tartness), which can irritate the bladder.

If you want to try cranberry supplements, most products don’t list the active compound, so it’s hard to know if you’re hitting the 32 mg she mentions — but a standard cranberry extract is still reasonable for general support.

I unpack all of this with brilliant urology nurse on The Happy Menopause (S7, Ep 6). We also cover other options you should know about — because you don’t have to just put up with pain and discomfort.🧡

Slow-cooked spinach is the ultimate comfort food for a wet winter's day! 😋

A mouthwatering combo of spinach, coriander, parsley, garlic, onion, green chillies, cumin and lemon juice with butter beans - if that doesn't give me an energy boost, nothing will! 💪

I do love a bit of batch cooking! What are you cooking this weekend? 🧡
