The Women’s Resources Center at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is hiring an Advocacy and Wellness Coordinator / Assistant Director, Advocacy.

This role supports the coordination and delivery of survivor/victim services and serves as a designated campus Confidential Advisor for students, faculty, and staff impacted by sexual misconduct, including sexual assault, sexual harassment, sexual exploitation, stalking, and dating/domestic violence. The position is embedded within the Women’s Resources Center and cross-placed two days a week at a satellite location to help reduce barriers and strengthen collaboration.

April may be done, but our work sure isn't!

This past month, we wore teal, gathered in community, held space for survivors, and kept showing up for prevention, healing, and support.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, partnered with us, shared our events, and helped make this month meaningful. We are especially grateful for this year's SAAM partners including the Urbana-Champaign Independent Media Center, City of Champaign - Municipal Government, Urbana-Champaign Reproductive Justice, New American Welcome Center at the University YMCA, Champaign County Health Care Consumers, Cunningham Township Supervisor’s Office, The Refugee Center, Avicenna Community Health Center, and the Carle Health SANEs.

Awareness matters. Support matters. Community matters all year long.

Prevention starts with a conversation.

Talking with kids about body safety can feel uncomfortable, but these conversations do not have to be perfect to matter. Small, ongoing talks help children learn safety rules, ask questions, and know they can come to you for help.

You can start by:

✅ Using everyday moments
✅ Keeping rules age-appropriate
✅ Making sure the other adults in a child’s life reinforce the same messages.

Safer communities are built through consistent, caring conversations.
