For those in a relationship --

Here's the scenario: It's late in the day and you're relaxing with your partner. They ask for massage (not sexual), and you willingly do your best to give them some healing touch! Yet you find that you're not sure how to do it, or you don't quite get what they're asking for, and maybe it takes more energy to figure it out than you thought it would. And, you know, maybe you're both a bit tired and this isn't something you've practiced or had much education with. Ultimately it's underwhelming.

Now, jokes aside, this is pretty common if you've been together for a while, right? This dynamic can be changed!

As a couple (5+ years), and as two licensed massage therapists, we have put our heads and hands and hearts together to bring you a massage class! We will demonstrate and coach you in your practice of what we know as some of the best techniques and methods you can use to bring more healing touch to your relationship(s).

To be clear, what we're offering is for ANY couple -- newer, established, friends, partners -- who wants to learn how to better give each a therapeutic and comprehensive massage! It can be so much easier than people often think, with some quality instruction and practice.

We keep each class small in order to give you expert instruction and guidance. Everyone remains clothed, and couples use mattress-like cushions on the floor (it's a nice wood floor; the place is a dance studio!). We address communication skills and provide techniques for the neck, head, arms, legs, back, shoulders, feet, and hands. Most of these techniques are thumb-free, and easy on the giver in other ways as well.

We're back with a Couples Massage class in February! ~ Celebrate your connection with nurturing, healing touch.

Couples at the class will be massaging each other. Anna and I (Isaac) will demonstrate a series of techniques for the whole body: techniques for the shoulders, neck, back, arms, etc. We'll alternate between demonstrating and then having folks practice. We'll observe your practice and offer feedback and suggestions as needed, as well as answer questions.

We also talk about communication; giving detailed feedback about pressure levels, how to receive the feedback from your partner and ask for clarification.

The main content of the class is the methods, which use not only hands but elbows, forearms, knees, and even feet; the techniques are chosen for their ease on the body of the giver as well as effectiveness for the receiver.

Our intent is that you come away from the class with a set of techniques that are easy, effective, and comprehensive, with a strong sense of how to communicate and colaborate with each other to make the most of what you've learned.
