Today marks the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

Through our Gender Equity Committee, we continue to champion workplace practices and education that address the underlying drivers of violence against women.

It is important to remember that digital violence is real violence, and it has lasting impacts on safety, wellbeing and connection.

As we continue our journey towards a connected and respectful Tasmania, we remain committed to building safe communities for all Tasmanians and to advocating for the prevention of systems and practices that enable violence to occur.

Ending violence against women requires collective action, courage and ongoing commitment, and we all have a part to play.

Today we proudly launched A Connected and Respectful Tasmania, a movement shaped by the voices of more than 1,600 Tasmanians across 78 communities.

We stood with community partners, local organisations and amazing Tasmanians who shared their stories with honesty and heart. Hearing their perspectives again reminded us exactly why this work matters. Real connection grows from small acts of kindness, inclusive spaces and communities where everyone feels they truly belong.

Thank you to everyone who contributed your voice, your time and your heart. This movement belongs to all of us and today is just the beginning.

Today is International Mens Day, a time to recognise the men in our lives, celebrate positive role models and support respectful relationships.

Relationships Australia Tasmania wants all men to feel understood and supported. That includes men and boys in all their diversity, including trans men and gender-diverse people who identify with men’s experiences and the people who care about them.

You don’t have to face life’s challenges alone, our counselling and support services are here to help you stay connected, healthy and supported.

Today we acknowledge the 16th anniversary of the National Apology to Forgotten Australians and Former Child Migrants, first delivered in 2009.

The National Apology recognised the deep harm suffered by Australian-born children and child migrants who were placed in institutional care, acknowledging the neglect, abuse and the lasting impact of being denied love, family and belonging.

This year, our remembrance carries special meaning as we come together to officially unveil the new Forgotten Australians Memorial at Tolosa Park, Glenorchy.

Created in partnership with Glenorchy City Council, the memorial is a place of healing and reflection, shaped by the voices of Forgotten Australians.

📅Wednesday 19 November
🕚11:00am – 1:00pm
📍Tolosa Park, Glenorchy, Forgotten Australians Memorial Site - all welcome.

Guests are invited to wear white as a symbol of solidarity and respect.

Today, and every day, we stand with all who were affected, honour their resilience, and commit to keeping their stories heard.
