Patients hospitalized with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) often develop stringy, tenacious tracheal secretions that prevent weaning them from a respirator.
European researchers conducted a prospective, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study with parallel assignment to assess the influence of sublingually administered Kali bichromicum C30 on the amount of tenacious, stringy tracheal secretions in critically ill patients with a history of to***co use and COPD.
Their findings?
The amount of tracheal secretions was reduced significantly in the homeopathic group. Weaning off a respirator could be performed significantly earlier in the homeopathy group as well. Similarly, length of stay was significantly shorter in the patients treated homeopathically.
