🌸 ZRMC CELEBRATES NURSES WEEK 2025: INNOVATE, ADVOCATE, TRANSFORM — A NURSES’ BLUEPRINT FOR A CHANGING WORLD 🌸

The Zamboanga Regional Medical Center (ZRMC), through its Nursing Service Division, proudly concluded a week-long celebration from October 27 to 30, 2025, under the theme “Innovate, Advocate, Transform: The Nurses’ Blueprint for a Changing World.” 💚💛

This year’s observance placed strong emphasis on personal wellness—mind and body—community healing through our Annual Healing Spaces initiative, and a rich lineup of activities that fostered camaraderie, creativity, and renewed dedication across our nursing service personnel.

✨ Highlights of the Week ✨

📌Opening Ceremony & Launching of the Nursing Service Division Manual – We began the week with high energy, featuring the formal launch of the Nursing Service Division Manual, a guiding document crafted to align and strengthen nursing operations, practices, and service excellence at ZRMC. Accompanying this was a spirited Chant Competition, igniting enthusiasm, teamwork and pride throughout the division.

📌Photojournalism Competition – A visual celebration of dedication, compassion and service through the lens of our personnel.

📌INNOVURSE Forum – “Reimagining Nursing Practice through Research, Resilience, and Reflection”, featuring distinguished speakers who motivated us to think ahead, adapt and thrive in the ever-changing landscape of healthcare.

📌 Healing Spaces: Spring into Action – Our signature initiative for environmental restoration and community wellness, embodying the spirit of service beyond hospital walls.

📌 Zumba and Quiz Bee – Fun, energetic activities promoting wellness, teamwork and professional camaraderie among our nursing service family.

🌺 The Bougainvillea Awards of Nursing Services 🌺
We concluded the week with the debut of the Bougainvillea Awards—our flagship recognition programme for outstanding personnel within the Nursing Service Division.

We chose the bougainvillea as our emblem of recognition because it symbolizes resilience, vibrancy and enduring beauty—qualities that mirror the steadfast commitment of our nurses, midwives, nursing attendants and respiratory therapists. Just as the bougainvillea thrives, flourishes and brings colour to its surroundings even in challenging conditions, so too do our nursing service personnel bring hope, healing and life to our hospital community.

Importantly, the flower takes on additional local significance in Zamboanga City. Although some etymologies of the city’s nickname “City of Flowers” link to folk traditions, reliable sources observe that Zamboanga’s name may be derived from the Malay word jambangan (sometimes interpreted as “place of flowers”) and point out that bougainvillea and other tropical blooms line its roadsides and public spaces. This local floral heritage adds meaning to our choice of the bougainvillea as symbol—rooting our recognition programme in both the spirit of our profession and our city’s character.

Following the awards ceremony, our celebration continued with a heart-warming tradition of indulgence: the division shared “Flavors of the Road” Filipino street-ice-cream treat, a joyful moment of camaraderie, gratitude and simple delight. 🍦

The Nursing Service Guild expresses its deepest appreciation to Dr. Hannah M. Rojas‑Turco, Medical Center Chief II, for her steadfast support, encouragement and inspiring leadership—championing the Nursing Service Division’s initiative and enabling us to innovate, advocate and transform in service to our patients and community.

2025 95th Founding Anniversary Celebration

95 Years of Purposeful Healing: One Name, One Mission, One Future

🎉✨ A Week of Purposeful Healing, Unity, and Transformation ✨🎉

From September 22–26, 2025, we made history together as we celebrated the 95th Founding Anniversary of Mindanao Central Sanitarium and officially launched Republic Act No. 12117, transforming our name to Zamboanga Regional Medical Center (ZRMC).

This was more than just a week of activities—it was a celebration of our past, our present, and our future. Each day reflected our theme, “95 Years of Purposeful Healing: One Name, One Mission, One Future” and lived out the Department of Health’s vision of a healthier, empowered nation.

🌟 Day 1: Opening Ceremony and Brand Launching
We opened with a solemn Flag Ceremony as an expression of respect and unity, followed by the unveiling of our new name and logo. The Historical Exhibit honored our agency’s past, the Food Park nourished our present, and the Research Proposal Exhibit gave a glimpse into the innovative future of ZRMC.

🏅 Day 2: Sports and Team Spirit Day
Our personnel came alive with energy and color as teams competed in sports and cheerdance competitions. It was a day of camaraderie, wellness, and joyful rivalry—reminding us that behind every excellent service is a team that stands together.

📚❤️ Day 3: Talent and Brains Day + Community Engagement
Innovation met service as the First ZRMC Trivia Quiz Bowl tested knowledge and the Research Proposal Exhibit continued to showcase ideas for the future. Most inspiring of all were the Community Health Lectures, where we reached beyond our walls to empower residents with vital health information—directly fulfilling DOH’s 8-Point Action Agenda, particularly Agenda #7: Empower People through Health Promotion and Education.

💆‍♀️ Day 4: Wellness Day
A day dedicated to caring for our own. Through Zumba, spa services, massages, and barbering, our personnel took time to recharge—because a healthy workforce means healthier patients and a stronger ZRMC family.

🌃🏆 Day 5: Gala Night and Awarding Ceremony
We closed the week with an elegant night of gratitude and recognition. We honored the invaluable contributions of our retirees, celebrated the loyalty of our employees, and awarded the victors of the week-long and month-long sports and cultural activities. It was a night of pride, joy, and renewed commitment to service excellence.
