Jefferson Otolaryngology physicians are specialists in the diagnosis and treatment of the ear, nose News & World Report.

Our physicians are trained in such subspecialty areas as Head and Neck Surgery, Sinus and Skull Base Surgery, Laryngology, Sleep Surgery, Otology, and Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. This achievement represents an exciting advancement in our surgical offerings, giving patients minimally invasive options and the potential for improved outcomes.

We had a fantastic evening connecting with medical students from a wide range of institutions. The energy was high, the questions were thoughtful, and the turnout exceeded expectations. Dr. Hunter participated in the MED-EL Surgical Advisory Board meeting on Friday, 08/08. This forum brought together experts to discuss cochlear implant technology, surgical practices, and emerging challenges, while providing valuable feedback on device performance and patient outcomes. Through these collaborative discussions, the board helps advance innovation and improve patient care.

This dedicated space will power hands-on learning, practice, and growth. The very first skills session kicks off this week, Stay tuned for updates as the space continues to evolve. Big kudos to our residents and Dr. Cottrill for bringing this vision to life!

Earlier this month, Dr. Cognetti and David Neu attended the Survivorship After Cancer of the Head and Neck: A Multidisciplinary Symposium at the University of Pittsburgh. This national gathering brought together experts from across the country to share the latest strategies, research, and collaborative approaches aimed at improving quality of life for head and neck cancer survivors.

Dr. Cognetti attended the 9th International Symposium on Sentinel Node Biopsy (SNB) in Head & Neck Cancer as part of the 10th World Congress of the International Academy of Oral Oncology (IAOO) in Liverpool, England. This global gathering brought together experts to explore the latest advancements in SNB for early-stage oral cancers. The symposium featured live surgical demonstrations, case-based discussions, and multidisciplinary panels focused on improving patient outcomes through innovative approaches and collaborative research.

On 7/19, our PGY-2 residents (Drs. Jason Tasoulas, Emily Garvey, Meagan Hoppe, Sruti Tekumalla and Andrew Corr) participated in the Baltimore ENT Emergency Bootcamp, gaining hands-on experience and essential skills to manage urgent ENT cases with confidence and precision.

Dr. Cottrill taught at the World Congress on Thyroid Cancer—an international, multidisciplinary meeting held every two years, this year in Boston. The conference brings together global leaders in thyroid cancer diagnosis and treatment. Throughout the week, Dr. Cottrill presented on intraoperative nerve monitoring, radiofrequency ablation for thyroid nodules, thyroid ultrasound, and participated as a panelist in a discussion on the surgical management of advanced thyroid cancer.

The 14th Annual American Rhinologic Society (ARS) Summer Sinus Symposium took place July 10–12 in beautiful San Diego, California! Representing our department were Dr. Kennedy, Dr. Toskala, Troy DeRose, CRNP, and Heather Rozencwaig, CRNP. This premier event brings together experts in the field to focus on what lies at the core of rhinology—delivering exceptional patient care. Through cutting-edge presentations and dynamic discussions, attendees explored the latest advances shaping clinical practice and improving outcomes.
