Over the years, I've seen my father change his mind many times, for example regarding the use of vaccines.

One day I questioned him about it, and he said:

"That's why I study constantly, to change my mind."

It's a principle that surprised me greatly and that I personally seek to apply every day in the practice of my profession and even in my personal life.

It's clear to me that when I stubbornly defend an idea, my brain and its automatisms win the battle against my conscience.

We're all fanatics about our own ideas, or worse yet: about the ideas of others.

And that doesn't mean I lack conviction. I'm a tough nut to crack; a cheap argument will never convince me of anything, but at the same time, I'm a subject of evidence.
