These little sprouts of joy have been keeping me company all through January and thankfully I have a few more holding in the greenhouse to keep me going until the daffodils arrive (oh how I am longing for the daffodils).

If you didn’t get around to planting bulbs in the autumn, make a note to do it this year as it’s well worth the effort. But if you can’t face it or don’t have space to keep them, you can buy them quite cheaply from garden centres now so you could fill a bowl with a few to bring in a little joy and the most gorgeous smells.

I hope you are all keeping warm and snug. We have made it through the most miserable month (although, some of the bright, crisp, sunny days with pink and gold sunrises have been pretty spectacular!). Much love, A x

Happy (belated) New Year everyone. I’m slowly emerging after a tricky few weeks of viruses, bugs and the death of a very dear friend. I hope you are all ok and that your new year is off to a gentle start. It seems like everyone I know was poorly or had a difficult time ofer the break, so despite having some time off, many of us are desperately still in need of a bit of R&R. So (and I’m saying this to myself also) don’t worry about easing yourself into January slowly. No need to kick off wild diets or excessive exercise regimes - I think it’s most important to just recentre and do something just for you.

With Willow back at school now, I’m definitely going to book a sleepy afternoon off and just catch up on some me-time. I’m thinking a good book, by the fire, some gentle yoga and maybe a little nap! What would you all do?

Before I do that though, I just wanted to say thank you all so much for your kind and wonderful messages since my new book landed in your homes. They have been so lovely to read. I am forever grateful and still pinch myself when anyone takes the time to cook my recipes or try out my advice. I’m so proud of this book and so happy that it is resonating with so many of you. Please do share with me any recipes you make or actions you take from the book - I have LOVED seeing all your organised fridges and cupboards. Much love to you all and thank you for being here, A x

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas ✨🎄

My out of office is officially on, what a whirlwind it’s been.

What a magical weekend! I must admit I’ve never been one for Halloween but seeing Willow with her friends, dressed up in all sorts, carving pumpkins, playing games, bursting with excitement and feasting, it was pure joy. I actually got quite into all of the decorations after a while and it was a lovely way to end a very busy half term. Hope you’ve all had a lovely Halloween weekend, A x 🎃

I’ve been a bit quiet the last few weeks since my new book went to print. It is so exciting, and also utterly terrifying, to let go and know that something that we’ve worked so hard on will be entering your kitchens soon!

Thank you to all of you who have already pre-ordered, it really does mean the world and helps me so much. The Organised Cook is something that we have been thinking about writing for years so I am so pleased it finally has happened.

I have had lots of questions over the last few weeks so thought I would share a little Q&A we created on the shoot pre-empting some of your questions. I hope you enjoy listening and if we missed anything or you still want to know more (before you perhaps buy as a gift for yourself of for someone special for Christmas) please drop your question below and I will answer. A x

This morning I went on a lovely, cold, misty walk with Margot and it was just breathtaking, I couldn’t stop taking pictures as the colours were amazing, so I just wanted to share a little snapshot with you.

Walking, even just for 10-15 minutes always helps me to reset and re-energise. Is anyone else feeling a bit blah? I thought maybe it was just autumn catching up with me, but I just tested positive for Covid this afternoon! It seems to be everywhere at the moment. (Don’t worry my walk was miles away from anyone, just me and Margot luckily!). As a result I’ve had to cancel my batch cooking workshop tomorrow so I am so sorry to anyone who was booked. I feel so bad for ruining so many plans, for a second year running! 😩

Sending much love to anyone else with Covid at the moment, and anyone without, please go on lots of lovely walks for us. A x

Thank you so much for all the wonderful comments over the last couple of days about the launch of my new book, The Organised Cook. I’ve read each and every comment and your support means the world. Thank you also to all those who have pre-ordered, it really does help me as it’s guides the retailers on how many books they choose to order and stock 🙏🏻 I really can’t wait for you all to read it! Wishing you all a lovely weekend, A x

I’m so excited to finally be able to share with you what we’ve been working on for well… years! May I FINALLY introduce you to my fifth book, The Organised Cook. In it, we Organise, Plan, Shop, Cook, Clear and Eat our way to a calm & healthy diet.

The Organised Cook joins the dots between wanting to eat well & the everyday reality of putting that into practice. This book isn't going to tell you what to eat, or why healthy eating is important (I’ve covered this in my other books); but it is going to tell you how to do it in amongst the busy reality of everyday life – most especially when time, money, energy and motivation is short. You will learn:

📖 How to organise your fridge, cupboards & equipment to maximise efficiency and healthy choices
📖 How to shop smarter & avoid overspending or being persuaded to buy things you don't need
📖 How to cook and clear as quickly as possible
📖 Why making a weekly meal plan can be a game-changer for busy households, and how to do it
📖 How to understand food labels & nutrition information so you can make informed choices when shopping
📖 Why the way we eat is so important to our overall health & what to do about it
📖 The unexpected impact that our crockery and serving habits have on our food choices
📖 70 new versatile, easy & tasty recipes so you’ll always have a healthy meal to hand (plus a 7-day nutritionally balanced meal plan)

And so, so much more…

Pre-orders are really important so if you feel like this book appeals to you, I'd be so grateful if you would consider pre-ordering. To show my gratitude, I'd like to offer a prize to one of you to win a one hour 1-to-1 video call with me to get personalised advice on optimising kitchen organisation in your home, as well as talking through any practical challenges you’re facing. I'll suggest great recipes to suit you & answer any burning healthy eating questions you might have. To enter, forward confirmation of your order to theorganisedcook@ameliafreer.com. A winner will be picked at random on publication day, 8th Dec 2022. Entries after this date will not be included. The winner will be contacted by email by 10th Dec to arrange the call. Thank you so much for your support! A x https://amzn.to/3Jiz9dU

On the menu this evening is my very simple red pepper sauce served with pasta (or fish or chicken or beans if you prefer). But we are going to have it with red lentil pasta and a crisp green salad. It’s a delight to use our first home grown peppers from the greenhouse this year. And this recipe couldn’t be easier or quicker to make. And it’s yummy too. You can find the recipe on page 240 of my 4th book, Simply Good For You. What are you all having tonight? A x
