What does kindness look like?

Sometimes it is choosing to show up when it would be easier not to.
Sometimes it is going out of your way for someone who feels alone, especially during the holidays.

This season can be heavy. A little extra love can mean everything.

At Haven Hills, kindness looks like real support, compassion, and standing with survivors every step of the way.

What does kindness look like to you? 💜

Some of the healthiest things a woman can say are the ones she was taught were “rude.”

Clear boundaries are not unkind. They are how we protect our peace, our time, and our safety. Saying things plainly does not make you difficult, dramatic, or cold. It means you trust yourself enough to speak honestly.

In 2026, we are choosing clarity over people pleasing, peace over pressure, and safety over silence.

Save this. Share this. And practice these words until they feel natural.

A new year has begun, but the need for safety has not. Survivors are still seeking protection, healing, and stability, and at Haven Hills, fear is met with compassion and real support.

Crisis becomes care. Care becomes confidence. And confidence creates a path forward. Stand with survivors this year and be part of lasting change. 💜

January is National Stalking Awareness Month, and this is something more people need to understand.

Most stalking is not committed by a stranger. Survivors often know the person harming them, frequently an intimate partner. That familiarity is what makes stalking so dangerous and so hard to name.

Stalking is not about attention or affection. It is about power, control, and creating fear through repeated unwanted contact, monitoring, threats, or showing up uninvited. When it is minimized or ignored, the risk of escalation increases.
Awareness matters. Speaking up matters. Silence protects harm, not survivors.

California survivors are at risk, and silence is not an option.

The January budget proposal does not include critical Victims of Crime Act funding, funding that nearly 1 million Californians rely on each year for safety, healing, and support.

Without a $100 million investment to offset federal funding cuts, survivors could face longer waitlists, fewer shelter beds, and reduced access to lifesaving services. More than 250 organizations across California are calling for action, and public and media advocacy matters right now.

You can help by sharing this post, contacting local journalists, and urging state leaders to protect survivor services in the final budget. Survivors deserve dignity, care, and safety. This is the moment to stand up!

Every number represents a real person reaching out in a moment of fear, uncertainty, and courage.

Behind every call is someone looking for safety, answers, and a way forward. When those calls come in, local shelters step in to meet survivors where they are with care, protection, and support.

Your support helps turn a call for help into real safety for survivors and their children.

Give if you can. Share if you cannot. Both matter more than you know. 💜

A new year is more than a fresh start. It is an invitation to begin again.

For survivors, that can look like choosing hope after a really hard season. It looks like healing, stability, and the courage to rebuild one step at a time.

At Haven Hills, we are committed to walking alongside every survivor who reaches out for safety and support. This year, our focus is growth, protection, and long term independence.

Thank you for being part of a community that believes in second chances and shows up with compassion. We could not do this work without you. 🤍

This isn’t about being harsh or dismissive.
It’s about naming truths survivors should never have to explain again.

These statements exist to bring clarity, not judgment.
When we understand better, we show up better. 💜

What makes a place feel like home to you? 🤍

Home is not just four walls. It is familiarity. Safety. Comfort. A place where you can unplug, breathe, and fully be yourself.

For many survivors, especially during this season, finding that stability and peace can feel really hard.

We would love to hear from you. What makes a place feel like home in your life? Drop your thoughts in the comments. Your answer might mean more than you think.

The holidays can be full of joy for many, but for survivors of domestic violence, this season can also carry fear, loss, and uncertainty.

At Haven Hills, stability means more than shelter. It means safety, care, and the space to begin again with dignity. Because of your support, survivors are able to find peace in moments that once felt overwhelming.

This season, your generosity helps restore what every person deserves. Safety. Stability. Hope.

Donate today and help a survivor take their next step forward.
