Your voice matters. The Department of Professional Licensing is hosting a town hall for mental health professionals to discuss key issues affecting the field. This is your chance to provide direct input as UAMFT has been collaborating with DOPL to improve accountability and clarity between mental health professionals and the division. We encourage our members to attend and provide their thoughts on Friday, July 11th at 9am via Zoom.

Legislative update: Exciting news out of DC today! The proposed AI regulation moratorium has been stricken from the Big, Beautiful Bill and states will continue to have the right to regulate AI. This means that Utah's HB452 that regulates the use of AI mental health chatbots, will continue to protect consumers.

UAMFT is tracking the Big, Beautiful Bill and the impacts it will have on Utah MFTs. Stay tuned.....

The American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy has put out a call to action to urge our senators to protect Medicaid. Included in the call to action is a template that is ready to send.

The Big, Beautiful Bill, which includes the Medicaid cuts, is expected to be voted on in the next several days. UAMFT is closely tracking this legislation and will provide updates on the impact it will have in Utah.

UAMFT is proud to have worked closely with the Office of AI Policy at the Utah Department of Commerce this past legislative session to pass HB452: Artificial Intelligence Amendments. This bill, the first of its kind in the country, increases consumer protection and establishes guardrails for AI mental health chatbots. Utah is on the forefront of increasing safety while still balancing the innovation and growth of AI. We commend the legislature on continuing to support this effort, their dedication to the safety of Utahns who use AI, and for lending their voice to this federal issue.

What can you do? Write your federal senator and let them know that you support guardrails in AI.

Members of the Utah legislature, including House Republican leaders, have sent a letter opposing a provision of the "Big, Beautiful Bill" in Congress that enacts a moratorium on AI regulation.

Exciting news for those looking to get licensed in Nevada!

Great news! Both Connecticut and Nevada legislatures have passed Access MFTs bills to ease licensure portability barriers for LMFTs.
Nevada’s bill also removes an unfair restriction, making the process more equitable.
Special shoutout to the Connecticut Association of Marriage and Family Therapy and all the dedicated advocates in both states who made this happen!
🖊️ Next stop: Governor’s desks in both states!
