Our health includes living in community
One year ago I was injured. A blow to the eye by an over excited kitten. I couldn’t see. And I was in pain.
I called a friend, no answer. Another, no answer. A third, and she was with me in 15 minutes.
I used to think of this as a ‘friend list.’ When I went through a shocking betrayal and abandonment, and became overnight a single mum. I had a list of numbers by the phone.
But I’ve come to see it as a circle. A circle in which I have a seat too. We’re all here for each other. No hierarchy.
This is how we create community. As the isolation of lockdown proved to so many of us. Going it alone isn’t healthy.
Mental health has become a major issue. Globally. One of the simplest ways to maintain our mental and emotional well being is to find our circle. To actively participate in caring for each other.
Yes, it means being vulnerable. But the other side of vulnerability is victory. We live both.
My friend took me to the clinic and on to see the specialist. Brought me food. Picked up my prescription. Others from my circle brought food. Sent reiki. Prayed. And continue to check in on me as I heal.
This is powerful. This is women! Step back into your power and look around. How’s your circle?
Big love 💕
