Hi all, it’s been a while and is time to make an official announcement. With a heavy heart, Street Medicine Kansas City has come to an end. It’s been a difficult couple of years. SMKC meant so much to so many people. We may have come to an end but I think I speak for everyone involved, our passion for people will remain. Thank you to all who were apart of our movement.

That being said, anyone selling any SMKC merchandise is not affiliated with us.

We’d love to hear your SMKC stories and/or stories about our beloved, late and great Jae & Kent.

What a feel good day during outreach. Heather and Bobbie out and rendered first aid, provided cat food and toys, dog treats, lunches, water, Gatorade, hygiene supplies, housing resources and social service referrals to Lotus. While we we were out, we were lucky enough to meet up with a volunteer church group that got disconnected from the agency they were meeting up with. We offered to go with them to meet the people in need and they handed out nearly 100 lunches and ice cold water. Love our community!

Bobbie and Tara continue outreach. Food bags, cat food, water, and ibuprofen provided to many. Basic wound care provided. Referrals to housing resources given. Nice work ladies!

As most of you know, we will be closing our doors this Saturday. We will have our clinic open and case management available until 2pm. We will be grilling in the parking lot around 11am on Saturday so please feel free to stop by as we will be serving food until we run out.

How did a sweet, young adult with disabilities slip through so many cracks from various area agencies and hospitals? We will never be sure, but there is now a much brighter future ahead. We came in contact with this individual during our cooling center hours. We utilized this time to engage with others and provide support and necessities; however, what was accomplished with this certain individual brought tears to our eyes. Thanks to our amazing, Alicia Combs, this person will be receiving a 5 digit SSI refund check, set up with a payee, and applied to receive IDD support services, etc. This is why we take the time with each individual as a team. This was a beautiful day and this person deserves this so very much. Thank you SMKC TEAM for your ongoing advocacy, support, motivation and determination. It works!
