On July 28, Vaya Health joined community leaders in North Wilkesboro to celebrate the ribbon-cutting of the Shirley B. Randleman Center. This center, now reopened by Daymark, will continue to serve as a vital resource for individuals and families in Wilkes County and the surrounding area.

Vaya Health Area Director and CEO Tracy Hayes was honored to speak at the event, which highlighted the importance of expanding access to care and strengthening community support. Vaya's grateful to see this investment in the health and well-being of the region, and we look forward to the positive impact the Shirley B. Randleman Center will have for years to come!

Recovery isn’t always about big leaps forward. Sometimes it’s about getting out of bed, making a call, or just holding on through a hard day. Every small step matters, and no one should have to take them alone.

Vaya Health connects people to support, treatment, and community resources that help meet your needs—because healing happens one step at a time, and everyone’s journey is different.

Naloxone (also called NARCAN) can reverse an opioid overdose and save lives. Knowing how and when to use it gives you the power to step in during critical moments. You don’t have to be a medical professional to carry NARCAN or make a difference for someone in need.

From January to June, Vaya Health distributed nearly 45,000 doses of NARCAN across 32 counties, putting this lifesaving tool into the hands of first responders, community organizations, and families.

Read our blog to learn how NARCAN is making a difference locally:

Substance use resources, NARCAN, naloxone, opioid epidemic, medication-assisted treatment, counseling, peer support.

As summer comes to a close, many teens are feeling the weight of back-to-school changes. New schedules, social pressures, and academic expectations can bring stress and anxiety that are easy to overlook.

This season is a great time to check in with them. Even small moments of support can make a big difference as they head into a new school year.

Vaya Health ensures children get the care they need, through Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic, and Treatment (EPSDT) benefits.

EPSDT covers preventive well-care visits, immunizations, vision and hearing checks, plus any medically necessary follow-ups or treatments for Medicaid-eligible children under 21—even if NC Medicaid doesn’t usually cover the services.

Vaccines protect what matters most—your child’s health. As students head back to school, staying up to date on immunizations helps keep kids healthy, in class, and ready to learn.

Vaya Health helps to support back-to-school efforts across North Carolina, working with local communities to connect families to health resources and wellness events. We also offer up to $20 in gift cards for Vaya Total Care members who receive COVID-19 or flu vaccines.
