Therapy SPOT

Therapy SPOT We are a new service offering individual and joint Speech & Language and Occupational Therapy to children with a range of conditions and difficulties.

Having worked together for a few years for the NHS, we have decided to venture out on our own and set up Therapy SPOT, a unique service that offers joint Speech & Language and Occupational Therapy for children up to 5 years with communication and sensory/motor difficulties. Having worked together in Early Years, we quickly discovered that there is often an overlap between our professions. We also experienced first hand the stress and anxiety often faced by parents having to juggle lots of appointments and sort through different reports, programmes and recommendations provided by multiple therapists. By working jointly, Therapy SPOT can offer a more holistic service, providing a broader picture of your child's difficulties and needs within a single assessment. We can also provide therapy and treatment programmes that integrate both Speech and Occupational Therapy, making it easier for parents to continue to implement therapy outside of our sessions. We cover parts of Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Berkshire and see children in their own homes or nurseries.

On average in the U.K. 2 children in every class have DLD. That’s more prevalent than autism, yet so often it’s missed. It’s DLD awareness day Friday the 17 October / please spread the word.

Has anyone ever said this to you?

Comments like ‘Everyone has ADHD these days’ can unknowingly invalidate the real challenges people face. Recognition isn’t the problem, invisibility was. 🧡

October is ADHD Awareness Month!

ADHD looks different for everyone. It can affect children, adults, men, women, and people from all walks of life. No two journeys are the same—and every story matters. 🧡

Throughout this month, we’ll be highlighting the diverse experiences of ADHD, raising awareness, and breaking down the stereotypes that hold people back.

Together, let’s celebrate strengths, acknowledge struggles, and make sure every face of ADHD is seen and heard.

In a busy classroom DLD can be hard to spot.
But one sign to look out for is difficulties with reading.
Children with DLD (Developmental Language Disorder) might have difficulties with phonics (decoding) or they might have difficulties understanding what they've read, or both.
Reading difficulties can be for a number of reasons, but any children who is not progressing with reading should be investigated by professionals who know about spoken language, such as Speech-Language Pathologists.
The theme for with year is 'you can't see DLD,' so join our campaign so more people 'see' DLD.

We feel that neurodivergent children (especially children with hyperactive/impulsive or combined ADHD) need movement to help regulate their brains. We think we need to stop punishing neurodivergent children in schools by removing access to outdoor play and movement opportunities.
