“I don’t even eat that much… why am I not losing weight?”

Hey Fam! 👋 Let’s talk about a common misconception: slashing calories for weight loss. 🚫 While it might seem like the fast track to shedding pounds, eating too few calories can actually do more harm than good. Here’s why:
1️⃣ Metabolism Slowdown: When you drastically cut calories, your body goes into survival mode, slowing down your metabolism to conserve energy. This can make it harder to lose weight in the long run!
2️⃣ Muscle Breakdown: Ever heard of “skinny fat”? It’s when you lose muscle mass while holding onto stubborn fat. Eating too little can break down precious muscle tissue, leaving you feeling weak and less toned.
3️⃣ Cortisol Chaos: Cortisol, aka the stress hormone, can skyrocket when your body feels deprived. High cortisol levels can lead to increased fat storage, especially around the midsection. No thanks! 🙅‍♀️

So, what’s the solution?

Focus on taking gradual baby steps. It might feel like you have to lose the weight now, but trust me, if you want to keep the weight off, you have got to learn to go slow. Implement changes to your diet 1-2 habits at a time ever couple of weeks and over the next couple months, I guarantee that you will see the results you’ve wanted!

Second, find a calorie deficit that is 250-500 calories beneath your estimated needs. Any more than that tends to cause more harm than good.

Lastly, focus on building muscle with strength and conditioning workouts - this will not only increase your metabolism but also help you shed the weight more quickly. 💚
