Check out the outstanding work of this year's graduating medical students at the University of Rochester School of Medicine & Dentistry who are pursuing Distinction in Community Health! >> https://padlet.com/rochester/2026-distinction-in-community-health-online-forum-3bxqfkjyhzxplj0w

Each year, several medical students, who also excel in community health scholarship, graduate with the Distinction in Community Health. This is an option for students who make significant longitudinal contributions to community service, excel in the Community Health Improvement Courses and engage in learning about current issues and topics in community health throughout medical school.

This is an opportunity for MD candidates to complete substantial and sustainable community health improvement with community partners, and experience health outside of health care first-hand.

How do we make lunch easy, quick, enjoyable, and nutritious to power us through the afternoon? Enter, the "adult Lunchable." Registered Dietitian Bethany Moran shares 5️⃣ reasons why they're awesome, as well as her own recent examples for inspiration.

Our Story

Making Rochester a Healthier Community Imagine living in one of the healthiest communities in the world. This is the ambitious goal of The Center for Community Health & Prevention. We are at the heart of a community-wide transformation to make Rochester a healthier place to live, learn, work and play. Our mission:To join forces with the community to eliminate health inequalities and improve health through research, education and service. The Center for Community Health & Prevention was established by the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC) to develop and expand academic-community health partnerships dedicated to improving the health of our community. It represents a new model of institutional commitment to community health that focuses on prevention. In a pivotal “match making” role, the Center connects URMC faculty, students and staff with community partners. Our shared goals are to increase community services and community-based research to improve health one person, one program, and one policy at a time. Today, community health is formally recognized as the fourth mission of the medical center, alongside research, education and service.
