📢 Important News for Chiropractic in Europe!

The European Chiropractors’ Union (ECU) has officially submitted a major evidence package to the International Labour Organization (ILO) and Eurostat to make sure chiropractic is correctly recognised in international and European classification systems.

This work will help ensure:

✅ Better professional recognition
✅ Stronger integration in healthcare systems
✅ Improved cross-border mobility
✅ More accurate workforce statistics
✅ Stronger educational and regulatory foundations
✅Reduces barriers for patients in seeking conservative MSK care

Chiropractic in Europe is a regulated health profession with 4–6 years of university education, extensive clinical training, and an important role in helping people with musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions.

This submission marks a big step forward for the profession — and for all the patients we serve.

➡️ ECU will continue leading this effort and working with national associations, educators, researchers, and regulators across Europe.

Together we are shaping the future of chiropractic. 💙

Learn about patients’ perceptions, hopes and expectations for low back pain treatment.

A brand-new module is launching today on eacacademy.com! The module, titled ‘Patient perspectives on low back pain treatment in primary care: a qualitative study of hopes, expectations, and experiences‘, is based on a thought-provoking PubMed article by Madsen et al.

Patients’ hopes and expectations for low back pain treatment influence their consultation experiences and treatment outcomes. These hopes and expectations may evolve over time, potentially leading to a shift in what patients consider important before and after a consultation.

Understanding the distinction between hopes and expectations, and how they evolve is important for improving patient care. This study explored patients’ hopes and expectations prior to LBP consultations and examined how these were reflected in their post-consultation experiences.

This module aims to help you to:
• Understand the hopes and expectations from a patient perspective in low back pain clinical consultation.
• Gain insight into the possible evolution of those hopes and expectations during a consultation for low back pain.
• Reflect on our own clinical practice for these kinds of consultations

Read the article and successfully answer the quiz, then download your certificate. Send in the certificate to your registering body to count for 1 CPD point/ hour.

We’ve just wrapped up a highly successful General Council Meeting of the European Chiropractors’ Union (ECU) in Frankfurt — and what an inspiring two days it has been!

Our discussions covered a wide range of strategic topics, culminating in several key milestones for the future of the Union. One of the most exciting developments was the official formation of the Political Engagement and Professional Recognition (PEPR) Group. This new working group will play a central role in supporting our strategy towards 2029, developing practical templates, tools, and resources for our members and contributing across many of the organisation’s strategic areas. This is a major investment for the ECU and an important step forward for our collective growth.

We also proudly launched THE HUB, the ECU’s new central library and storage space. THE HUB marks a new chapter in how we organise, collaborate, and share knowledge. We are grateful for the positive feedback already received from stakeholders, many of whom have expressed their eagerness to collaborate and contribute materials. Your support strengthens our shared mission.

The energy throughout the meeting was incredibly positive, and the constructive discussions gave the leadership valuable guidance for the work ahead.

A heartfelt thank you to all participants for your engagement, ideas, and contributions. Together, we are building a stronger future for the profession.
