FINAL PHASE ACTIVATED: A MAJOR STEP TOWARDS PHARMACEUTICAL SELF-RELIANCE

Today, the Honourable Commissioner of Health led a strategic site visit alongside our foreign partners to the new pharmaceutical production factory. He was joined by the Executive Secretary, Katsina State Drugs and Medical Supplies Agency (DMSA), Directors, and the project consultant as the team officially initiated the final phase of installations.

This important milestone moves us closer to delivering a modern, state-of-the-art pharmaceutical production facility that will strengthen healthcare delivery, enhance local drug manufacturing, and secure sustainable medical supplies for our state.

ESSENTIAL DRUGS COLLECTION MOMENTS – MAY 2026

In line with the commitment of Katsina State to strengthen healthcare delivery, the Katsina State Drugs and Medical Supplies Agency (DMSA) has successfully distributed the May 2026 Essential Drugs to General Hospitals and Comprehensive Primary Healthcare Centres across all 34 LGAs of the state.

The distribution reflects a structured, timely, and transparent supply system designed to ensure equitable access to quality-assured medicines, particularly in primary healthcare facilities and hard-to-reach communities.

This coordinated rollout reinforces ongoing reforms in drug procurement, supply chain management, and accountability, aligned with national regulatory standards.

Through this effort, DMSA continues to advance the healthcare agenda of the Katsina State Government by reducing stock-outs, strengthening service delivery, and safeguarding public health outcomes for all citizens.

ESSENTIAL DRUGS COLLECTION MOMENTS OF APRIL 2026

In line with Katsina State’s commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery, the Katsina State Drugs and Medical Supplies Agency (DMSA Katsina) has distributed it’s April 2026 Essential Drugs to General Hospitals and Comprehensive Primary Healthcare units across the 34 LGA’s in the state. The distribution outlines a structured, timely, and transparent supply of essential medicines to government-owned health facilities across the state.
This distribution framework prioritizes equity and efficiency, ensuring uninterrupted availability of quality-assured medicines, particularly in primary healthcare centres and hard-to-reach communities. It reflects the state’s ongoing reforms in drug procurement, supply chain management, and accountability, in line with national regulatory standards.

Through this coordinated rollout, DMSA continues to support the healthcare agenda of the Katsina State Government by reducing stock-outs, improving service delivery, and safeguarding public health outcomes for all citizens.

Building a Legacy of Standardization: DMSA Holds 3-Day SOP Development Workshop
The Drugs and Medical Supplies Agency (DMSA) has commenced a 3-day workshop dedicated to the Development of Operational Guidelines & Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
📍 Venue: Tahir Guest Palace, Kano 🗓️ Date: 4th – 6th February, 2026
The event is honored by the presence of key leadership from the Ministry of Health, including:
Hon. Commissioner of Ministry of Health (Represented by Dr. Lawal Aliyu Dandakyal, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Katsina State).
Pharm. Adamu S. Gachi (Director Pharmaceutical Sciences, Ministry of Health).
Pharm. Fatima Sani Saulawa (LMCU Co-ordinator, Ministry of Health).
Dr. Buhari Isma’ila (Director Malaria and Sickle Cell, Ministry of Health).
Dr. Bishir Adamu (PM Malaria, Ministry of Health).
Pharm. Mukhtar Yahaya (RIVO/LMCU, Ministry of Health).
In her address, the Executive Secretary of the DMSA, Pharm. Fatima Shu’aibu Kurfi, Ph.D, emphasized the agency's mandate to manufacture, source, and procure medical supplies for the state. She noted that "a mandate of this magnitude requires structure to be executed effectively".
The goal of this workshop is to create a framework that improves service delivery and strengthens the pharmaceutical supply system across Katsina State.
