Katsina State Drugs and Medical Supplies Agency (DSMSA) Flags Off October 2025 Drug Distribution

The Katsina State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KATSCHMA) drugs for the month of October 2025 have been officially released for distribution across all 34 Local Government Areas of the state.
This round of distribution covers essential medicines under key health programs, including:
- KATSCHMA Formal Sector
- KATSCHMA Informal Sector (Basic Healthcare Provision Funds)
- Direct Facility Funding – Essential Medicines Component
- GAVI PHC MOU – Vulnerable Population Program
- The collection schedule for each of the 34 LGAs is attached, along with pictures of the medicines provided for onward delivery to health facilities.
This initiative ensures steady supply of quality and affordable medicines, improving healthcare access and supporting the government’s commitment to a healthier Katsina State.

KATSINA STATE GOVERNMENT PARTNERS WITH PHARMACEUTICAL MANUFACTURERS ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA (PMGMAN) TO PROVIDE QUALITATIVE AND AFFORDABLE MEDICINES IN THE STATE

The Katsina State Drugs and Medical Supplies Agency (DMSA Katsina), in collaboration with the State Ministry of Health, is pleased to announce the signing of a strategic agreement with the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (PMGMAN) aimed at improving access to quality and affordable medicines across the state.

This partnership, driven by the administration of His Excellency Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, reflects a renewed commitment to strengthening the healthcare system by ensuring consistent supply of effective, safe, and affordable medications in all government-owned health facilities.

Under this initiative, selected indigenous pharmaceutical companies were carefully vetted and approved based on strict criteria, including adherence to NAFDAC standards, affordability, and fast delivery timelines. These companies will now serve as key suppliers of essential medicines throughout Katsina State.

Speaking during the formal announcement, the Honorable Commissioner for Health, Hon. Musa Adamu Funtua, reaffirmed the government’s dedication to ensuring that every citizen, regardless of location or income level, can access reliable and affordable healthcare.

Executive Secretary of the Drugs and Medical Supplies Agency, Pharm. Fatima Sha’aibu, further emphasized that the selected pharmaceutical partners have committed to maintaining high-quality standards, ensuring prompt delivery, and reducing costs—without compromising the quality and consequently the efficacy of the medicines.

The Agency also issued a clear directive that any company found to be in breach of the agreed terms, including quality or delivery failures, will be removed from the partnership.

This intervention comes at a critical time, as Nigeria faces rising drug prices and nationwide shortages. The Katsina State Government sees this partnership as a proactive response to national health challenges and a crucial step toward reducing preventable deaths, especially in underserved rural communities.

In addition, the largest pharmaceutical company in Nigeria and one of the leading suppliers to the Katsina State Drugs and Medical Supplies Agency, FIDSON Pharmaceuticals invited the team for a guided tour of their manufacturing facility. The purpose of the visit was to reaffirm the quality and standards of their products in line with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

The Drugs and Medical Supplies Agency remains committed to supporting the government’s health agenda by ensuring sustainable access to essential medicines for all residents of Katsina State.
