🌸🌻🪻 Spring is just around the corner, and while peak bloom is something many Michiganders look forward to after a long winter, this time of year is also challenging for people with asthma. Warmer temperatures caused by climate change cause longer allergy seasons, higher pollen levels, and more asthma triggers. And this is just the beginning—as climate change worsens, so will its impacts on our air, water, food and health.

Let’s stand together to advocate for climate policies that make our air cleaner, environment greener and Michigan healthier. 💪

Did you hear? Restaurant menu transparency legislation gains momentum in Michigan, New Jersey, and Maryland, fueled by California's ADDE Act (SB68) success. But these states are taking ADDE even further, to all restaurants (and in some cases, delis) vs. large chain restaurants only. Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA) is working to convince lawmakers to take up the cause and organizing advocacy efforts. Learn the scope of the MI, NJ & MD transparency initiatives + how you can pitch in: https://www.allergicliving.com/2026/02/18/restaurant-allergen-bills-introduced-in-3-states-how-you-can-help/

Meet two teen catalysts for menu transparency and find out what ignited their fire to advocate for more menu disclosure. Maryland state delegate Jamila Woods says, “No one should have to rely on guesswork or verbal assurances when their health is at stake.”

AAFA is on Capitol Hill sharing why this is a critical moment for our community. Prevention and management of asthma and allergies depend on affordable, quality health coverage; access to medicines; strong public health programs like the NACP; access to vaccines; clean air protections; and clear food safety standards.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to share patient stories and priorities directly with lawmakers.

The Trump administration put over people’s health again, and weakening mercury standards is just another reckless policy decision that puts American’s lives at risk. Undermining the standard will make people sicker, increasing dangerous pollution that causes brain damage in babies, cancer, and other cardiovascular and lung diseases.
