Today’s a special day!

Our Grant’s Harbor location got a special visitor when program graduate, and now team member at Christian Recovery Centers, Dwane stopped by on his way to drop his son Mikey off at school.

This morning wasn’t just another day. It marked the realization of more than two years of dedication and hard work not only in battling his own addiction, but in actively pursuing reunification with his family. Over the past six months, Dwane has worked to move his wife and children to Brunswick County, and he is now experiencing the joy of full restoration. It might seem like just a simple trip to school but today represents a huge milestone and reflects exactly what Christian Recovery Centers fights every day to accomplish.

A meaningful community service opportunity recently presented itself for Christian Recovery Centers when Mrs. Susan, a longtime friend of our ministry, reached out for support with her move to Wilmington. Years ago, she entrusted CRCI to help her settle into her home here in Brunswick County, and when the time came for another transition, there was only one group she felt she could rely on again: Christian Recovery Centers. Although the initial call came with some scheduling conflicts and communication challenges, our team rallied without hesitation to provide the care, attention, and dignity Mrs. Susan deserved. Special recognition goes to Michael Guzman (Chief Workforce Redevelopment Officer), Anthony M. (LDI), Tristan K. (LDI), and program residents Jacobb, Tony, Jesus, Chauncey, and Ethan for stepping into this need with strength. Their willingness to serve unselfishly reflects the true heart of rehabilitation and marks the beginning of a successful, purpose‑driven life.

CRCI's Warming Facilities

William arrived at CRCI’s overnight shelter on December 8th, 2025, after being referred by DeeDee, a close friend of Josh Torbich, and his visit opened a window into a life shaped by endurance, courage, and deep faith. Homeless since the age of 18, William has crossed the country in ways most people could never imagine, by riding a bike, walking/hiking, hitchhiking, and even canoeing. Right now, he is riding his bike from Pennsylvania to Savannah, Georgia, carrying with him not only his belongings but a lifetime of stories. He shared that he once canoed from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, all the way to Louisiana—a 1,200-mile trip and later hiked the entire 2,200-mile Appalachian Trail. His experiences speak to both the weight he has carried and the strength that keeps him moving forward.

Beyond these physical feats, William spoke with a quiet humility about his recovery and his faith in Jesus Christ. He believes God has a purpose for his life and feels called to write a book that tells his story, a story not just of distance traveled, but of grace, survival, and hope. As William continues his journey, we pray that God’s hand remains upon him, guiding his steps and filling his path with purpose. We wish him nothing but the very best as he follows the road before him.

We will continue to keep our doors open and welcome those in need to provide warmth, shelter, kindness, and the love of God to those we are called to help whenever and wherever we can.

Our faith is our biggest tool in recovery. Every single member of the staff, from top to bottom, at BCRC has personally experienced freedom from some kind of addiction.
