Hello, my name is Melanie Solomon. I have lived on the Lummi Reservation for my entire life. I am a single mother of two girls and hope to raise their interest and knowledge of the work that I do so that they can pass it on as well. er had led classes on healing salves and balms more than 15 years ago. This created a curiosity in me and many, many books, websites, and blogs later I have created recipes for some great medicine. I have tried and worked on these for many years and have changed up the recipes many times to get the most effective results. Much of what I do is self-taught and through extensive trial and error. I maintain that I uphold the highest quality in my salves, in my oils, and in my work. I use unrefined, organic products as much as humanly possible and guarantee the quality as I only create medicines with a good heart and mind for the benefit of those who use them. All salves contains the following herbs, all herbs are organic and harvested by hand and have been infused by hand in Extra Virgin Olive Oil (therefore you may find the occasional leaf or herb in your salve):
Devil’s Club Rub
Devil’s Club (arthritis, healing wounds or rashes—an ancient medicine and only harvested at high elevations, generally in or near old growth forests.), Calendula (inflammation and soothing skin), Chamomile (soothing, inflammation), Comfrey (also known as knit-bone, used to help stimulate healthy cell growth, helps heal broken bones and sprains), Nettles (high in essential minerals, arthritis, anemia, and taken internally helps relieve hay fever), Cedar (antifungal, antibacterial, stimulates smooth muscle, arthritis or rheumatism) Feverfew (fever reduction and inflammation), Rosemary (stimulates healthy blood flow) and beeswax. Contains herbal infusion of Nettles (very high in vitamins and minerals and good source of protein helps stimulate the system), Rosemary (stimulates healthy blood flow, Sage (detoxify, unblocks follicles, stimulates the system) in lavender Castile (pure coconut oil based shampoo) base, argan oil and vitamin E. Nettles Conditioner: Herbal infusion of nettles, rosemary, and sage with Emulsifying Wax (only thing not organic in my mixes), and Nettles Infused Extra Virgin Olive Oil to help build thicker hair. Sore Muscle Rub: Arnica (bruises, sprains, muscle aches, inflammation and heals insect bites) Devils Club (see above), Calendula (see above), Cedar (see above), Rosemary (see above) Valerian Root (relaxation, taken internally helps alleviate insomnia or anxiety issues), Peppermint Essential Oil (headaches, fatigue, soothing calming effect), Lavender Essential Oil (soothing, antibacterial) Tea Tree Oil. Healing Salve: Calendula, chamomile, cedar, plantain, nettles, dandelion leaf, beeswax. Great for controlling, healing psoriasis or eczema, wound care, cracked or dry skin. Healing Lotion: Calendula, chamomile, cedar, feverfew, comfrey, dandelion leaf, plantain, emulsifying wax, and water. This is basically the same as the healing salve, but in a water-based lotion as opposed to an oil based salve.
